BLASTBEATS FOR FREEDOM Blogzine (Usa) This isn't a GLAUKOM SYNOD release at all but a 4-way split CD-R that GLAUKOM SYNOD's G. S. released on his label, NIHILISTIC HOLOCAUST. The 4 bands featured are IMPUREZA, ARSONIST, SUDDEN DEATH, and INGURGITATING OBLIVION. France's IMPUREZA starts things off with some awesome well-recorded catchy death metal (sung in Spanish?!) ala IMMOLATION or NILE but with more modern thrash metal influences. Totally brutal! Totally awesome ! Not what I was expecting at all after listening to GLAUKOM SYNOD for the past hour. The acoustic flamenco guitar was a nice touch too. That shit seriously made my fucking day. Next up is ARSONIST from Sweden. ARSONIST keeps it up with some brutal Cannibal Corpse influenced death metal. From the song titles ("Sadistic Necrophile Bed-Pleasures") to the relentless pounding blastbeats, their four songs reek of Cannibal Corpse and I love it. Germany's SUDDEN DEATH sounds remarkably similar to ARSONIST but with a slightly rougher production and a more old school approach to song writing. Last but not least is another band from Germany. INGURGITATING OBLIVION close this CD off nicely with a lethal dose of modern brutal death metal. No thrash or hardcore influences. Just straight up Suffocation worship. I haven't listened to this kind of over the top macho death metal shit since I was a teenager and I after listening to this CD, I wonder why I ever stopped. My copy was number 857. That's a lot of fucking CD-Rs!
BRUTALISM Webzine (Hol) Reincremation is a 4 way spilt cd released by Nihilistic Holocaust.Impureza (France) Play brutal as fuck, Grindcore with Spanish Guitar parts, with lyrics in spanish to the best of my bleeding ears. Imagine Juan Brujo (Brujeria) fronting Immolation. Fucking Bad Ass! Arsonist from Lund Sweden, play fast tight tech-death, kinda like Suffocation meets Spawn Of Possession, with early death metal savagery from the glory days when everybody recorded at Morissound Studios. Pit Worthy!!!! Germany's Sudden Death play nothing short of there name. Barbaric, cold blooded, rip your fucking neck off death metal. This is what Malevolent Creation or Hateplow would sound like if Corpsegrinder joined the fold. Doesnt that sound just lovely?? Well it does to me! Ingurgitating Oblivion, I played with these fuckers in 2004!!! Tech-slam-whoop yer ass death metal. I.O. destroy all in there path and make you get up and slam the guy next to you in the wall. I ought to know I watched a crowd at AJZ in NRW do it all night long. In fact I was the fucker that landed in the wall. Suffocation meets Gorguts in all out war! Fucking Manditory! In Closing, this is one of those things you have to have or you are a poser!
BURNING MISERY Webzine (Hol) France should be proud of Impureza, a brutally technical death metal band that has 3 tracks of deathly, raw and primitve metal on this split. All songs are written in Spanish!, and they also sing on the disc in Spanish! Very cool! Anyway, Impureza deliver 3 tracks of grinding, technical death metal in a primitive way!Next is Arsonist, a Swedish death metal band that can ride with the best of killers! 3 tracks of pure brutality in a Morbid Angel and Disgorge feel, taken from their demo in 2006. Brutal and purely groovy, check out Arsonist people! Sudden Death brings us 4 tracks of Cannibal Corpse, Immolation type death metal mixed with a faster beat and riff!! Germany sure has spawned a lot of brutality recently. Anyway, old school metal fans will love this and fans of newer style like Brodequin and Prostitute Disfigurement will dig this too!!! Ingurgitating Oblivion is the last act of brutality on this split cd. They deliver 3 tracks of utter guttural evil with a twist of technical feel. Ingurgitating Oblivion will blow the most brutal of fans into next week with these tracks, they are taken from a demo in 2004. Enjoy the sickness folks!!!
CARNAGE Webzine (Germany) Hm, der Gab von Nihilistic Holocaust hat mal wieder
zugeschlagen.
A suivre !
DIABOLICAL CONQUEST Webzine (Usa) Impureza play dark death metal of the finest and sexiest kind. Although French by nationality, Impureza have their lyrics penned down in Spanish, probably for an unpretentious, filthier enunciation of the words. Like how the Danish band Panzerchrist had theirs in German, though for an altogether different reason. With globs of Morbid Angel's blood tumbling in their veins like red carpet and the snobbish and imperial attitude with which they strut in “El Gitano Maldito”, the royal Mithras emerge majestically like a colossal whale to the mind; except here, Mithras' grandiose, dreamy parts are replaced with unique flamenco ones. Which means in addition to a good deal of intense brooding, you get to tap your steel-toed boots, clench your lardy ass and dance as elegantly as an elephant, but bearing a serious and composed expression on your face. “En El Desoertp De Ma Creencia” is a delightfully unending seven minute epic strewn with exotic riffs a la Nile and dark segments that make comparisons with Drawn and Quartered and Imprecation plausible, each of its riffs assiduously treated upon till it turns dark as charcoal, and then they blacken your face with it (unless it is already...). It also features shouted nearly chanted vocals that sound so nasty and distasteful that it makes you want to spit right that moment, its effect enhanced many times over when delivered in a language other than the one you can understand - any tourist will vouch for that. “Varicocha” is another sumptuous song bearing influences from the dark death metal gods, Incantation and Immolation before which you are expected to grovel and beg for mercy. Dark and stylish, just like me, Impureza are simply irresistible. Excellent riffs, ambitiously structured songs and refreshing flamenco parts lift Impureza from the swarm of dark death metal bands and place them on a makeshift throne, until a proper one is made after they record a full length album. <8.6> Arsonist is a brutal Swedish band that have parachuted from seemingly nowhere and landed right in the campfire of the newfangled brutal Swedeath acts, first setting their pants and eventually the entire camp on fire. From the classic Cannibal Corpse chops and hooks; to the dogged Deranged blast parts (“Divine Art of Killing” is almost like a tribute to them); to the Floridian natured riffs of Imperious; to the stutter chugs of Visceral Bleeding; Arsonist play all that and more with such a blazing pace and ferocity that your hair is bound to get singed at the very least; inflammable newbie wimps will get instantly cremated on the spot, for good. Despite their convoluted song structures nothing seems contrived here; they seem to know as if by intuition what is to be played when, and then they implement and execute it to perfection, making their competitors burn with envy. The vocalist is over the age to burp out monosyllables and he does a fine job with his succulent hoarse growls. The drumming is fucking deft; machine gun-like and precise, almost like he's aiming at his kit with a squinted eye while playing. Quite frankly, except for the dearth of leads and a personal desire of hearing more riffs of a purer nature, I have no scruples about this brutal death metal band that is preordained to be one of the best in its subgenre in Sweden. Flame on, Arsonist! <7.7> Sudden Death are the only band on this split whose tracks are taken from a cd, their full length Rethroned to be specific; the rest of the tracks on this split are taken from the respective band's demo. An inbred German colt from the Anasarca stable, Sudden Death are yet frivolous and undisciplined, and display unabashed attraction towards the brutal mares that are out of their league. Like Anasarca, their riffs are sharp, deadly and provocative, and played with an identical hair-raising guitar sound. Their songs, lengthy and climactic, are sufficiently accentuated with stomping and galloping parts similar to the gait of Spawn. All this definitely makes for a promising listen, a wager a death metal fan has little chance of losing, but when heard through my professionally trained ears, I can't shrug off that blasé feeling towards them. With all of their songs predictably vacillating between the lethal and brutal parts, “Broken Wings”, in a sudden moment of brilliance, flashes a jaw-dropping Immolation segment. It along with "Until Hell Froze" are the best songs of their side of the split having fetching hooks and riffs with overall more character and brutal substance. Anasarca fans that are blinded with nostalgia will gobble them up before I finish typing this sentence, but Sudden Death need to work on making their songs more interesting and dynamic if they want to leave a sudden and lasting impression on the wider, unsuspecting death metal audience. <7.2> Ingurgitating Oblivion's claustophobic, dark yet brutal form of death metal feels like being kidnapped in a gunny sack and then getting clobbered unremittingly with fists and boots. Something a morbid Santa Claus would do when you get stuck in the dark, creosote layered chimney of your house. After being a gracious recipient of blows for a fair period of time, you will find yourself getting unstuck from your brutal predicament, slipping like a Morbid Angel slime into a daze - a kind of sweet, entrancing daze conducive to memories of Immolation at their acme - only to get stuck again a notch lower. Despite being of an inherently brutal nature, Ingurgitating Oblivion wear the influences of those great bands like their own skin, a dark skin without patches or spots. It is nothing short of amazing how the brutal thug music moving along at a sedate pace discovers a heightened guru-like state of awareness and plays brilliant hypnotic passages, and then just in the same way loses it and reverts to its original brutal self: vandalizing property, hitting people, etc. Effectively infusing captivating dark elements with brutal death metal is something many bands have attempted, but none have been as successful as Ingurgitating Oblivion. <7.8> Reincremation is a superb split showcasing the stunning raw talent that persists in the underground. Fortunately, there are no insufferable bands on this split; it is highly pleasurable all through. However, it is extremely unsettling to see that bands of Impureza and Arsonist's caliber are still unsigned. I'm fervently hoping this split will change that status immediately. Buy this at once and redeem yourselves for indulging in the excesses of limp commercial metal.
EXTREME AGGRESSION Webzine (Ger) Sehr interessante Death Metal-Compilation hier! Vom Demo 2006.Danach SUDDEN DEATH: Geil!
FACE YOUR UNDERGROUND Webzine (Bel) The 'Reincremation' split, with a running time of nearly a full hour, features four bands showing the best of their respective demos. Opener is Impureza - the most striking aspect here is the unmistakable resemblance to Nile. From the Egyptian-tinted acoustic intro to the downtuned, compelling riffs, Impureza stands for qualitative - and most certainly interesting - deathmetal... Too bad Nile did it all before; but I wouldn't go that far as to really call this band a clone. They are, however, at cruise speed when talking about songwriting and technicality: the three tracks are bursting with atmosphere, groove and brutality.Arsonist's attempt is one of pure, brutal deathmetal. While this style is far more commonplace than Impureza's, Arsonist manages to keep the attention through flawless technical execution of sometimes bone-crushing riffs. Arsonist stands for straightforward brutality from start to finish, really. Sudden Death's first song comes as a sudden change, too: the higher-pitched, sharp sound is like a wake-up call after the low, bulldozering Arsonist. Apart from the production, the style remains in essence the same: Sudden Death also opts for pounding deathmetal, albeit with a tad less technicality and a tad more mid-tempo groove poured into the compositions. This band's riffs are more generic than Arsonist's, but this is obviously not a bad move: I just nodded my head along for the first time during this disc. Ingurgitating Oblivion feels a bit like the (older) Morbid Angel, and proves to be a very enjoyable last band on this split. Whether going slow or up-tempo, all instruments are perfectly matched: the songs are not always predictable, always have something going on, and this band also has eye for detail. Especially the guitarriffs are straight from the bestselling "How to write fucking brutal deathmetal" manual, and are the key to Ingurgitating Oblivion's compositions (although the other musicians most definitely are up to the challenge). To conclude, I can say that Impureza and Ingurgitating Oblivion are the eyecatchers on this disc, but solely because of that special twist in their style - apart from that, the other bands are satisfyingly brutal as well. Superb underground stuff! Less than 500 copies circulating at the moment, so if you can, try to get your hands on this one.

FOBIA Webzine (Cze) Do redakce nám dorazilo splitko 4 kapel vyhlížející D.I.Y. stylem. Nu což říkám si, obal sice prodává, ale to vždy neplatí. A neplatí to ani v tomhle případě. Jejich muzika jede víc v brutal deathu, ovšem ne žádný old school a s občasnými odpočinkovými pasážemi. Kytary hodně řezavé a podladěné a přesně rytmizující s přesnými bicími. Jednoznačně i nejslapší hudební čtvrtina splitka.

SUDDEN DEATH sind Old School. Guten Appetit.
LORDS OF METAL Webzine (Hol) French underground death metal label Nihilistic Holocaust offers via a nice CD
called 'Reincremation' a few European death metal bands to present themselves.
MASTERFUL Webzine (Pol) French underground label Nihilistic Holocaust presents 4 bands on this admirable split album.French death metal band Impureza kick off the album with 3 tracks of Nile influenced death metal. Generally along the lines of that band's landmark debut "Among the Catacombs Of Nephren-Ka". Notable is the band incorporation of flamenco into their relentless assault. Overall, Impureza isn't nearly as brutal as Nile was on their watershed debut, but the influence is definitely there. The flamenco interludes are much like Vital Remains' "Forever Underground" album, although the tracks aren't nearly as neatly structured. Sweden's Arsonist on the other hand play fast death metal like Misery Index and latter day Dying Fetus with groove sections that would fit with Deranged and Skinless. From a musical point of view Arsonist is a top notch act, only they fail to offer something interesting within their genre. Germany's Sudden Death plays old school death much like Belgium's Suhrim. Influences range from Autopsy and Dismember to (early) Gorefest. The material is catchy, groovy and everyone who is into classic European death metal will find much to like here. The production is quite horrible with an ear-splitting snare sound. Ingurgitating Oblivion from Germany play technical death metal like Golem and Pavor. They are easily the most impressive band on this split record. Overall this is a good split if you favour more old school oriented death metal. The no-frills artwork and attitude that permeates from this split harkens back to the ealier days of the genre.
MINACIOUS Webzine (Swe) The latest in a long line of splits from this French underground label. This split is released in three different versions, ordinary jewel cases, slim cases and in red paper. Musically this is a pure Death Metal split. First out is the French Impureza, but if you had to guess you would say that they're from Spain. All lyrics are in Spanish, the intro is definitely Spanish. Which I'm not that impressed with, their Death Metal is a whole different matter, they sound like a more technical Incantation or Immolation. Not abd at all, they still feel the need to infuse their Death Metal with flamenco guitars, which sucks. But other then the Spanish influence they are actually qite good. Next up are the Swedish Arsonist, which starts with a clip from "Full Metal Jacket", you can't go wrong with that. They play heavy and brutal fucking Death Metal. I could mention a few bands that might have inspired Arsonist, but I'll just mention Cannibal corpse and you might get an idea how Arsonist sounds. This I like, brutal and relentless. I think this should be the last band on this split (because of the name) but instead this is the second to last band, Germanys own Sudden Death. Once again we are hit with an attack of fast, brutal and ferocious Death Metal. This band also has some old Cannibal Corpse in them, coupled with some old Morbid Angel. Not bad, I like the heavier parts, but the faster parts feels a bit uninspired. I prefer Arsonist (and not just because they are from Sweden). Last band is another German one, Ingurgitating Oblivion. Another band inspired by American Death Metal, this time around more Morbid Angela and Immolation. Once again not abd. Arsonist is probably my favourite followed by Ingurgitating Oblivion then Sudden Death, I just can’t get over the flamenco guitars in Impureza.

NIHILISTIC HOLOCAUST Webzine (Fra) It's 2007, the world still sucks, and Gab still manages to select distinct acts from the deepest insalubrious pits of the underground. This new Reincremation split CD-r forecasts 4 European bands best described as follows. IMPUREZA have a brand new demo up their sleeve. Compared to their previous efforts, these 3 tracks somehow are an improvement. Musicianship and production have tightened, more work can be felt through arrangements. Ambition seems to have led them through the conception of these new songs as their style clearly progresses into a more epic feel, almost narrative in the vein of masters such as Nile. This is overall pretty impressive, but being the tough critic asshole I am, I also must point out the weaknesses of their songwriting. The first two songs are each built around one single tone, every riff revolving around it. I don't know if this is intentional, but it's pretty strange for a death band, and the riffs end up sounding a bit like a continuous strain of notes from the same minor harmonic scale. This monotony is only broken in the third song, this one has a completely different structure and as it keeps the qualities of the other two, this is in my opinion the best track by IMPUREZA. Rhythmically, however, they constantly manage to bring surprising breaks and tempo changes which is a more positive point. Plus, the acoustic parts are absolutely brilliant. All in all, this band is growing, yet it needs to get rid of the somewhat gimmick-ish aspect of their music and convert these elements into real genuine originality. ARSONIST are a more conventional NYDM outfit in the vein of Cannibal Corpse, by that unmistakable combination of dowtuned muffled power chords with blast beats. Add the low pitched vocals of typical Bill Steer fashion, sex/gore sadism and a handful of rawer grind parts, and you obtain the formula for an ARSONIST song. Although there’s barely anything groundbreaking here, one can say they do their thing pretty well as the song distinct from each other, thanks to a certain sense of «melody» that this band has not skipped contrary to most of their brutal death peers. The song structures are catchy enough, and the numerous tempo changes are well balanced too. Gab may hang me by the balls for saying this, but to me the next band on this comp is barely distinct from the previous one, at least after the first two or three listens. The vocals, drums and production of the SUDDEN DEAH demo are very close to that of ARSONIST. Listening more carefully though, the riffs actually have a much different feel, and the general atmosphere of this demo is way darker. SUDDEN DEATH indeed have a more substantial lyrical contempt than ARSONIST and focus their views on the real world, in the grind tradition. This is yet again clearly influenced by CARCASS at least for the fast and grinding stuff, yet they add to this base a darker melodic personality. The fourth track «Broken Wings» is the most promising to me. Nothing groundbreaking, again, yet still a cool demo to listen to. I’d say this is musically better than EXHUMED, and perhaps IMPALED too. INGURGITATING OBLIVION close this comp with a return to a more typical Floridian death metal edge. I must say this 3 track demo is overall impressive, despite being 3 years old already. But maybe that’s because I’m more «sensitive» to that kind of death metal than the previous 2 bands featured on this CD. There can be no doubt that I.O. have listened to HATE ETERNAL a lot. They captured that chaotic/melodic feel and restitued it effortlessly on these tracks, despite being not as fast as HATE ETERNAL, and perhaps a little less messy. Don’t get me wrong, this is tight and intense as bloody hell. The guitar solos are also in the vein of Erik Rutan’s, eeric and veloce at the same time. The slower parts, and there are a good bunch of them, feature some repetitive rhythms and pinched harmonics typical of IMMOLATION, or MORBID ANGEL (‘Gateways’ period) but to me it is clear that INGURGITATING OBLIVION are mostly influenced by HATE ETERNAL. I’d even say they sound better because their sound has more variety and more rawness (the drums sound like, well, drums, if you know what I mean). A very solid work to sum it up, admittedly not very personal but definitely challenging to the listener…or should I say, to Erik «King Of All Kings» Rutan as well? T.G.
NO BULLSHIT Webzine (Saudi arabia) Fuckin’ brutal! That was my first reaction even though I am not spinning the cd yet and I am just looking the cd cover and the bands featured in here. Alright, let’s start things off from the bandIMPUREZA – I guess this band is a Nihilistic Holocaust main band, because I’ve been seeing this band in every Nihilistic releases, well no doubt, but this band is fuckin’ brutal! Death metal to the extent from head bangin’ to slammin’ sickness, this band never ceases to amazed me every time I hear about them, the Latin classical guitars have already created a trademark for them which I like it that much and I can’t even deny that, they are one of the best death metal band from France in my list. Songs taken from their 2007 demo. (http://www.myspace.com/impureza) ARSONIST – these guys manage to bang my heads off after those non stop head banging from the band Impureza, although I can’t feel too much intensity from them but still the aggression remains that satisfy my death metal tastes, this is in your fuckin’ face brutality but their modern approach blast their way! Songs taken from their 2006 demo. (http://www.myspace.com/arsonistmetal) SUDDEN DEATH – a mid paced death metal that reminds me of Atavism and the first and second track they have contributed here sometimes reminds me of our local band Pathogen, the riffage and their tunes could simply move yah head off for bangin’, I like the way when they made some slow part breakdown, this is traditionally inclined death metal mixed with some modernity approach, the usage of pinch harmonic is sweet but it makes me bore when its over used. (http://www.suddendeathmetal.de) INGURGITATING OBLIVION – I guess this is the band that I like the most in this CD, I remember the band Terminal Descent the way the vocal doing his thing, but the way the guitar executed quite evident for their own style which is much different from the three bands featured here, not some kind of the brutal thing nowadays but could surely break your skull off! This is fuckin’ death metal in a traditional manner. (http://www.ingurgitating-oblivion.de) This is fuckin’ death metal as fuck split CD that you should have to check out! This is what I like from the Nihilistic Holocaust camp, Gab has definitely has a good tastes when it come s to Death Metal fuckin’ thing and not to mention Gab’s amazing talent of his painting for the artwork cover. Cool packaging, DIY or die. Total time of 58 minutes and 35 seconds of a non stop head banging! - Corix
NOCTURNAL BATTLE OF CHARIOTS Webzine (Pol) Ale jazda!!!!! No i wreszcie INGURGITATING OBLIVION... Znacie to?
NUCLEAR ABOMINATIONS Webzine (Ita) New round from Nihilistic Holocaust, afterthe superb three way wit Hateful, Impureza and Hellspawn. France might have second rate football teams, cheese and wine compared to Italy (eh eh) but surely has a generally better grind and death metal scene - from bands to zines to labels. I have deep respect for this guy G from Nihilistic Holocaust becouse you can really feel his enthusiasm and deication, he does a superlative zine and fuck, his label is also doing high quality - no nonsense releases. That said, I am a bit disappointed by these new Impureza tracks. The band has undergone a really heavy stylistical turn since the previous songs I remember. The songs are now sung in Spanish (?) and have even a load of flamenco (!) intermezzos in the middle, plus several structural references to latin music which, while executed in a flawless manner, I really found a bit too much for my narrow tastes. I have listened to these tracks more than once but cannot really get into them. Might be becouse I really find all latin music boring and unnerving and I also don’t really like the language too. If you separate the bollocks, the band still has the full force crunch it had in the past, but I am more into Morbid Angel than Atheist if you know what I mean. Political 6 - just for the spirit. Superior musicianship and excellent recording make these tracks quite interesting. The third track is a real blast though - have a listen. “Full Metal Jacket” has been inflated a bit for intros but is always fun to hear. It’s a good introduction to Sweden’s Arsonist, whose name made me run for cover in fear of hearing some emo haircut sissies playing the Dillinger Escape Plan clones. No shit, Arsonist instead play pure Death Metal the Nihilistic Holocaust way (it’s becoming a mark of quality) - this means no aimless baggy pant brutal chugging, but just pure Death Metal killer riffs, powerful vocals and a good balance of solos. Some riffs remind me of old Cannibal Corpse but this really do not end here - staying in Swedish ground one might even collect moments of Genocrush Ferox, Strangulation and Immersed in Blood. The bass guitar has a massive sound but it just wraps the tracks in a distinctive sick low saturate vibe instead of just popping out in the middle like in Primus. Arsonist is good stuff, brutal in an old fashioned way without sounding retro. Brutal riffs, deep growls and power riffs abound, neat shit indeed. I would shoot a full 8. Sudden Death have among the worse song titles in the world in this split (I”nsert Coin”?? “Broken Wings”??) but compared to Arsonist they’re somewhat faster, even if characterized by a gently rougher - almost garageish recording. While powerful and fast, I am not convinced 100% by the vocals but that does not mean they’re not good, just not competely deep as the previous bands so they just might sound a bit odd in the 4 way. The riffs are not amazing either, even if the songs are carefully balanced in terms of power chords and hyperblasting. The slower to mid-tempo parts - that have historically made Italy the worse country in the world in this field of Thrash/Death - are here too not overly catchy, so the songs just seem a bit flat even tough we’re on good levels in general. I’d drop the mid tempos and cure the faster parts more, or a potentially good band like this risks to end like Obscenity or Pavor in the limbo of routine German Death Metal… 7 nonetheless. I haven’t heard the full length but I remember this band was good, just did not remember HOW good it was. This is just the kind of pure 100% Florida Death Metal with the right share of demoniac vibrations and hyperbrutal sound. Darkness and fury unleashed. I could compare this band to our Hour of Penance, they’re really fucking killer. It’s been a while since I haven’t heard good shit like this. I could cite Serpents Aeon, Pessimist, Diabolic to give a rough idea of what kind of muzak we’re talking about - really impressive shit. 9,00 in my book. I have really appreciated G’s personal creation on the cover of this Cd, much better than the old one. I just am not sure if this split is on Cd-r or if it’s just the promo copies that have been home burned. But I’d go for the first since my one is hand numbered (#143 of?). To sum it up - I wish there were more compilations like this… 7,5/10
Riffing.

Andiamo ora in Svezia, dagli Arsonist. "Instruments Of Torture" (notate dai titoli a quali tematiche siano affezionati gli Arsonist!) (Hellvis - Ottobre 2007) Voto Impureza: 8 Voto Arsonist: 7.5 Voto Sudden Death (GER): 7 Voto Ingurgitating Oblivion: 7.5

THE METAL OBSERVER Webzine (Ger) Once upon a time I detested splits, not anymore. Nowadays they only infuse a mild nausea.
I know horseshit about IMPUREZA, and I don’t feel for doing any research either. What I can tell you is that they most probably hail from a country where Spanish is spoken, but which I don’t know. Anyway, mid-tempo Death Metal with a hefty punch is the name of the game. They aren’t particularly original, but they know their instruments very well, and also how to compose noteworthy tunes of death. The tiny grain of owns ideas consist of brief Flamenco parts, or something like that anyway. It’s an interesting idea, but as developed as we where 8 weeks or so from the when our father’s sperm fused with our mother’s egg – or eggs if you are a twin, triplet, or whatever. Their shit sounds good, too. Almost forgot to mention it.
I’m an arsonist, or was, anyway. That means that I’m one of those infamous Norwegian church-burners, nothing to be proud of really. This band, on the other hand, has every reason to be proud of their misconduct. Yet again we are talking about a band as original as tunnels in Norway, but they master their art very well, brutal Death Metal that is. It’s modern, but not slick and overly pumped up. Blood and sweat are laid into this bands work, I respect that. Add some more solos, and I’ll dig the shit out of you.
SUDDEN DEATH is a perfect name for a Death Metal band. Fanfare and a jumbo jet full of kudos are sent your way. And they do deliver on every account. This is loud, violent and powerful. The sort of sudden death we are talking about here is the equivalent of being hit by a train. I of course exaggerated to increase the dramatic effect in the line I wrote previous to this. ARSONIST and SUDDEN DEATH is from the same village, but anyway they have distinctively different characters. It’s hard to say what separates them so I guess both have some identity in the midst of having squat originality onboard. I’m starting to fucking hate the word original.
INGURGITATING OBLIVION is still an infamously shitty name for a band, but they are likewise doing their thing perfectly well. “Deconstructed Creature” is the only song not to be found on “Voyage Towards Abhorrence,” an album reviewed by me a while back. If you guys had bothered to give us more feedback on our work, I might have assed to add a link to it. Anyway, the sound of the newborn is pretty similar to what I’ve heard from their other siblings. For those unaware, it’s nothing more than fair to add that we are talking about yet another brutal Death Metal band, this one a tad more technical at it.
One thing’s for sure, this is the best split release I’ve ever heard. Not too many, really. (IMPUREZA is a French band, haha)
THREATS FROM THE UNDERGROUND Webzine (Usa) This is a 4 way split release by 4 amazingly good bands. The bands include
IMPUREZA (France), ARSONIST (Sweden), SUDDEN
DEATH (Germany) & INGURGITATING
OBLIVION (Germany). All of these bands play a combination of
Death Metal mixed with Grindcore. I have never heard any of these bands before,
so this was a real treat for me. If you like your Death Metal filled with
hateful Grindcore then you must check this split release out!
VOICES FROM THE DARKSIDE Webzine (Ger) IMPUREZA, who kick this split CD-R off very impressively, are hailing from France, they play brutal, quite technical Death Metal, have two vocalists in their ranks and their lyrics are written in Spanish (!!). Ooops! But if you already tend to consider this a quite weird combination, then please tell me what you think of the fact that they also incorporate flamenco (!!!!) parts in their writing, huh?! But even though it sounds like a bad joke at first, it works out extremely well, never comes across ridiculous, but fits their complex brutality rather well instead. I personally was extremely impressed by their three songs on this split CD-R (originally released as their first demo "Y Correra Tu Sangre" earlier this year) and have already played them various times. With the right label to back them up these guys could become huge in the not too distant future – and yes, you can definitely quote me on that! Next up is the Swedish five-piece ARSONIST who have previously already been described as a mix between fast, technical Death Metal and the oldschool Florida sound and that sums it up pretty good indeed. Three members of the band used to be part of the Death Metal horde MONOLITH (from 1998 - 2002) while the other two are still active in PANDEMONIUM nowadays (who recently released their second album "The Autumn Enigma"). ARSONIST's contribution to this split CD-R is their entire second demo "Therapy In Violence" (from 2006). The three songs easily impress with a solid, very exciting songwriting, which is full of variation and definitely far away from all the blastbeat monotony that seems to be so hip these days. The vocals need a really positive mention here as well, as they are very brutal, yet with a David Vincent like clearness to 'em. Just like IMPUREZA's demo also ARSONIST's offers an amazing quality in the production (lots of albums these days sound worse!). Awsome! Two German bands complete the picture here. First up is SUDDEN DEATH, a quite established unity in the underground with several releases out already, yet a "first listen" to me. Very brutal, pure Death Metal with obvious influences from CANNIBAL CORPSE, VOMITORY and the likes is what you get here. All in all very well executed, but compared to the other bands on this split release unfortunately a little too ordinary for my taste, I'm afraid. And last (but definitely not least) there's INGURGITATING OBLIVION, a band that shouldn't be unknown to regular VOICES readers anymore as they got praised more than once by Ramon in the past and as a result also opened up our 10th Anniversary festival. The three songs on this split were taken from the band's excellent "Poetry Of The Flesh" promo demo, which got them a deal with the US label Unmatched Brutality Records. At least all those of you who own their debut full length "Voyage Towards Abhorrence" will already know that this is a very sinister mixture of IMMOLATION, MORBID ANGEL and INCANTATION, always performed on a very high musical level and destined to be worshipped by the majority of readers here. While the tracks 'Poetry Of The Flesh' and 'Veil Of Perception' also made it onto the album, 'Deconstructed Creature' remained a demo-only song so far and therefore the inclusion here is more than justified. So, all in all this is another killer release from Nihilistic Holocaust, and a feast for all Death Metal lunatics around the globe! More info you may find on the band's websites www.myspace.com/impureza, www.myspace.com/arsonistmetal, www.suddendeathmetal.de and www.ingurgitating-oblivion.de. VOMIT THE SOUL Webzine (Fra) IMPUREZA starts playing on this new split release from Nihilistic Holocaust, and they come with the 3 tracks originally released in 2007 on their 3rd demo entitled “En El Desierto De La Creencia”. 3 tracks from one of the most, if not the most, promising Brutal Death Metal band from France!! Intense, massive, heavy and technical Brutal Death, heavily influenced by NILE, with some MORBID ANGEL and HATE ETERNAL touches! The three tracks sound brutal and technical, but the creation of ambiance seems also to be really important for the band, with several acoustic lead guitar parts and interludes (played by the band, no samples), a rather long 2nd track with various ambiance in this same track, etc. IMPUREZA deserves a deal to record their debut album very soon!! This band just kills!!! Well, second band is ARSONIST, playing 3 tracks of Brutal Death Metal in the vein of CANNIBAL CORPSE and SUFFOCATION, and taken from their demo 2006. Nothing new, nothing original, but finally something agreeable to listen to, probably because of the good sound of the recording, rather heavy, and good dosage of brutality and technicality! Definitely not the best band of this split release, but pleasant to listen to anyway. They clearly deserve some support! 3rd band is SUDDEN DEATH. Unfortunately for them, SUDDEN DEATH is for me the less interesting band from this “Reincremation” release, playing Brutal Death Metal with a Old School feeling, between the Swedish style, ala DISMEMBER and ENTOMBED, and the US style in the CANNIBAL CORPSE “The Bleeding” vein. I’m ok to say that the 4 tracks played by SUDDEN DEATH (and originally released on their “Rethroned” CD07) are rather well played, but it misses something to create something exciting. It definitely sounds too much linear for me. Really average band and part of the split release… Well, last band is INGURGITATING OBLIVION, known for their excellent first album “Voyage Towards Abhorrence”. The 3 tracks on this split are taken from their demo 2004, and appear too on their album. If you’re looking for impressive Brutal and Technical Death Metal in the MORBID ANGEL and IMMOLATION style, go read the review I did for this album!! At last, here comes a very interesting DIY split release, coming with a weird cover artwork, not so much of my taste, but looking original. You have to get this stuff, sold for a cheap price, if you never heard about IMPUREZA and INGURGITATING OBLIVION! 100% promising bands, and this “Reincremation” is a very good way to discover them!! |
