Fiński NERLICH nie może pochwalić się zbyt pokaźną dyskografią, którą stanowią
głównie demka czy jakieś zbieraniny. Band rozleciał się po pięciu latach, ale na
sam koniec pozostawił EPkę „Innards” nagraną już tylko we dwójkę. Jako fan
północnych dźwięków już na wstępie nie kryję zadowolenia, jakie wywołało u mnie
te 17 minut śmierć metalowej siekaniny. Czasami po prostu ta cała wtórność nie
ma najmniejszego znaczenia i morda mi się cieszy, jakby to był mój pierwszy
kontakt z takim graniem. Tak właśnie jest w przypadku NERLICH. Materiał jest
megawtórny, przeznaczony dla prawdziwych zatwardzialców (znajdzie się nawet
wersja dla wyznawców kaset!), ale zapewnia kilka chwil radochy i to jest
najważniejsze. Nie ma tutaj mowy o amatorce, wyraźnie popracowano nad kawałkami
z „Innards”, a że zbyt wiele ich nie ma, to było, co dopieszczać. I takie
właśnie wrażenie dają te jazgoty. Czuć w nich szlif. Nienaganne brzmienie,
wysoki poziom umiejętności, zmiany tempa, solówki. Same dobre strony, a jak
jeszcze dodać do tego bonusowy kawałek, którego nie obejmuje tracklista, to już
w ogóle palce lizać. Oto bowiem ni z gruchy ni z pietruchy wchodzi przerobiony
na death metal motyw z Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fakje! Sympatyzowania z
tymi za czasów berbecich nie wyprę się i przyznaję, że NERLICH zgotował mi
nielichą niespodziankę. Szkoda tylko, że zespół borykał się z problemami i że
jego żywot został nagle skrócony, ale dobrze, że chociaż w ogóle doszło do
wydania „Innards”, mimo, jak przyznaje kapela, sporej obsuwy. Dawka paskudztwa o
poranku daje mocny zastrzyk energii. I od razu cały dzień staje się
przyjemniejszy, a bańka chodzi na autopilocie. Zawodu przy muzyce NERLICH nie
stwierdziłem.

Nerlich est un groupe finlandais formé en 2003. Amateur de death metal sombre et
pure souche, sans avoir beaucoup d'années derrière eux, c'est un petit palmarès
qui commençait à se dessiner malgré tout.
Après quelques démos, un album «
Defabricated Process » en 2007, « Innards » a vu le jour en 2008 sour forme de
Ep en format cd.
Nihilistic Holocaust en a fait sa dernière prod, en
reprenant ce ep, en version cassette, agrémentée d'une nouvelle pochette
réalisée cette fois-ci par G lui-même président directeur général de la
SARL Nihilistic Holocaust.
Ce sera également la dernière production du groupe
puisque ce dernier a splitté depuis, et c'est assez dommage.
Nerlich envoie
une bonne giclée de death metal radical dans la plus pure tradition. Des grands
passages plaintifs avec des guitares aux atmosphères lugubres et des solos
hennissants, du bourrinage en règle. Ça me rappelle un peu les premiers Grave
avec un petit côté floridien par moment.
Là aussi une fois de plus ça sent
bon la vieille école.
Ce « Innards » possède quatre titres qui peuvent
s'écouter avec plaisir. Les morceaux sont tous dans la même veine, avec des
accélérations où la batterie s'emballe sur la grosse caisse, mais Nerlich joue
beaucoup sur les ambiances horrifiques avec des guitares qui laissent trainer la
note relativement longtemps pour rester macabre.
Et dans ses solos Nerlich a
tendance à se thrashiser façon Slayer notamment sur « Altered form of life
».
ça poutre comme il faut, le son n'est pas particulièrement bon dans son
intégralité mais pas vraiment mauvais non plus. C'est clair que ça aurait pu
mériter meilleure production pour des morceaux de gros death metal poilu, mais
en même temps ça aurait enlevé ce charme sincère et « dans ta face » qu'ont ces
quatre titres.
Pour finir sur une touche d'humour Nerlich s'est offert un
petit délire en morceau fantôme à savoir une reprise metallique du générique des
Tortues Ninja. Ça n'apporte rien au truc, mais Xentrix avait bien repris «
Ghostbusters » et tout le monde avait applaudit...

Ok, it's brand new for me. Haven't heard of their name before. But death
metal from Finland is always promising! Not that I've put too much hope
on NERLICH as what I've been putting on Purtenance, Xysma, Disgrace,
Demilich, Demigod, Midnight Sun, etc, but NERLICH has really something
that can make me play the tape over and over again.
First of, forget the sound of Swedish melo-shit-Gothenburg death metal.
Finnish always suck in copying the Swedish, that's for sure. NERLICH is a
straight forward death metal, the tempos are fast, the vocals are
semi-growl, I must say that NERLICH is lying on the right lane of death
metal. Moreover, in my simplest opinion, NERLICH is more alike The Crown
style of death metal, with heavy touches here and there.
Of course, "Innards" is the first time I hear the, thus I cannot make
any comparisons with their previous releases. "Defabricated Process" was
released as their debut album in 2007, but I hardly find it for a
decent price. Nevertheless, this is an album that I am currently sought
for, to enable me to make better judgment on NERLICH.
Overall, this cassette EP was released by Nihilistic Holocaust,
I'm not sure the purpose of the release. It might be the original EP
was really sucked in presentation. The cassette is much more decent in
nature, and the cover printed nicely. This EP got it's own fine package.
Recommended for moderate death metalheads!!

Sorti en 2008 sous forme EP, Mister S. rend ce dernier enregistrement des
tueurs finlandais accessible à la plèbe, ceux qui sont trop fauchés, ou pas
assez à l'écoute du souterrain, pour avoir pu chopper la galette noire. Par
contre ça s'adresse à l'élite adepte du format dépérissant, à savoir les accrocs
de la cassette. Et puis ça s'adresse aussi aux puristes du death metal ; oubliez
les zolies mélodies, la zolie production, et les refrains scandés par deux
pédales se carrant un micro dans le fion. Leur death metal est crasseux,
ténébreux, avec des grattes profondes (là où sont cachés les micros des autres
chanteurs) et même une basse (si si, je suis sûr qu'il y en a une) qui te
rajoute une couche de gras par dessus, pour ça glisse encore plus profond. C'est
efficace, bas du front, mais pas linéaire comme ces grosses feignasses
d'amerlocks de chez METAL BLADE, et l'alternance de blast, mid tempo, tempo plus
thrash font que les titres tournent bien, et donnent envie de pogoter avec le
mobilier (attention dans la cuisine). Pour aider les connaisseurs, disons qu'une
louche de old school a été intégrée dans un death typé américain façon années
90, et que ça sonne certainement pas original mais bien furieux. Pour ceux qui
connaissent pas, c'est barbare, et ce ne sont pas les quelques solii, maigre
lueur d'espoir musical, qui vont empêcheront de suffoquer pendant ces 4 titres.
L'artwork pour le coup est éloigné des superbes pochettes très piquantes de la
disco du groupe mais largement mieux que celle du EP originel. Par contre on
serait allègrement passé du ghost track ridicule, déjà musicalement avec une
production maigrelette et un son électro redondant tout moche, et surtout parce
que c'est le générique des tortues ninjas... Dr J. - 7/10

Triste à dire, mais cette
démo des finlandais qui sort à titre posthume n'est
pas ce qu'ils ont produit de plus percutant. Pourtant j'étais
resté plus qu'emballé par l'album "Defabricated
Process", or depuis le line-up a quelque peu fondu, le groupe
aura sans doute préféré mettre la clé
sous la porte. Nerlich a toujours été très
marqué par l'empreinte d'un death à l'américaine
du début des 90s. Ici on oublie le coté assez technique
de l'album pour se concentrer sur un death-metal plus épuré,
dans une optique plus à la Massacre/Death des débuts.
Pourquoi pas, sauf que le résultat n'est pas super palpitant,
principalement à cause des riffs qui sont loin d'être
inoubliables. Un 1er titre "Innards" très rapide,
bien foutu, mais le son qui manque de nuances empêche tout
vrai décollage. On reste un peu dans le brouillard, alors
que paradoxalement c'est sur ce titre que les riffs me paraissent
les plus convaincants. "Sinister Deprivation" le 2nd titre
apporte une lourdeur doomesque assez impressionnante, avec du riff
qui semble s'être échappé d'un "From Beyond"
: le meilleur titre du lot pour moi sans hésitation pour
l'atmosphère qu'il dégage. A coté de ça,
"Hard Days..." fait pâle figure : compo rapide sans
charme particulier, avec un solo miteux en guise d'ouverture, mais
un ralentissement final assez sympa par contre. En tout cas l'impression
première qui m'a fait penser que Nerlich sonnait moins brutal
qu'auparavant, moins Suffocationesque, est confirmée. "Altered
Form Of Life" est cool quant à lui, assez rapide et
similaire à la première piste, avec ce même
son pas très emballant. Mais bon ça n'est qu'une démo
après tout, alors peut-être faut-il faire abstraction
de cet inconvénient (sauf que l'album avait entretemps mis
la barre super haute)? En ghost-track gaggesque, on croise la musique
des tortues ninja version punk pourrave, honnêtement je vois
pas l'intérêt de foutre ça là comme conclusion
d'une "carrière", ça fait pas super sérieux.
Au contraire même ça donnerait comme qui dirait un
aspect ironique à leur révérence. 2/5

COMMAND Zine (Ger)
Lupenreinen Elchtod mit Entombed- und Dismember-Sound
haben NERLICH aus Finnland zu bieten. Auch dieses Vier-Track-Tape hat bereits
drei Jahre hinter sich, ursprünglich erschien es sogar als Self-Release bereits
2008. Die Band hat sich noch vor dieser Tape-Veröffentlichung aufgelöst,
"Innards" war ihr letzter Output. Der Sound dieser Vier-Track-EP verbreitet ein
typisches Sunlight/Skogsberg-Feeling, lediglich den röchelnden Vocals fehlt es
ein wenig an Charisma. Abgesehen davon dürfte sich jeder Freund oben genannter
Kapellen mit dem Sound der Combo anfreunden, auch wenn er nichts wirklich
Weltbewegendes zu erwarten hat. Als Gag gibt es am Schluss eine ulkige
Neuinterpretation des "Teenage Mutant..."-Themes. Das weiße Tape ist
handschriftlich durchnummeriert, einseitig bespielt und auf jener Seite mit
einem aufgeklebten Bandlogo verziert 7/10

No, nadszedł już najwyższy czas,
aby ponownie zaaplikować sobie kolejną dawkę śmiertelnej zarazy,
którą w iście niezłomny sposób „diluje” nieugięty
Gab, czyli g(ł)ównodowodzący francuskiego przedsięwzięcia
chałupniczo-charytatywnego o profilu gastronomiczno-mięsnym kryjącego
się pod nazwą „Nihilistic Holocaust”. Tym razem w jadłospisie stale
uzupełnianym przez szefa wspomnianego podmiotu widnieje kolejna
„mięsna potrawa” w postaci (ś)fińskiego Nerlich! Wychodząc więc
z założenia, że nie ma to jak zatopić zębiska w kawał porządnego,
gnijącego Death Metalowego ścierwa czym prędzej postanowiłem przystąpić
do „konsumpcji” „Innards”, która jak się rychło okazało jakąś
szczególną wyżerką nie była – i nie chodzi mi bynajmniej
o „walory smakowe” owego dania lecz o dość skromną zawartość „srebrnego
talerza” na którym jest ono serwowane. Jedynie cztery numery
(właściwie to pięć, jednak ostatni z nich, czyli „cover” tematu
z serialu „Wojownicze Żółwie Ninja” trudno traktować poważnie),
ale jak mawiają niektórzy – lepszy rydz niż nic. Cieszmy
się zatem choćby i tym, bo w gruncie rzeczy mamy ku tej radości
powodów na niecałe 18 minut, który to czas wypełniony
będzie rzecz jasna... Śmierć Metalem. Fińska załoga bez wątpienia
nie wynosi uprawianego przez siebie gatunku na twórcze wyżyny,
oryginalnością również nie grzeszy, jednak łupie ten swój
Death Metal na tyle solidnie, że niemała rzesza wielbicieli dokonań
Suffocation, Gorguts, Pestilence a po części również Entombed,
Slugathor czy Adramelech i tak będzie usatysfakcjonowana słuchając
tego swoistego epitafium na cześć Nerlich, które zresztą
jest autorstwa samego „zmarłego”, bo trzeba Wam wiedzieć, że zespół
został już pogrzebany lecz zanim wyzionął ducha zdążył jeszcze wypluć
ze swoich przegnitych trzewi ten materiał – czy powinniśmy zatem
żałować tego „zejścia”? Cóż, po zapoznaniu się z „Innards”
aż tak bardzo bym się przy takim stanowisku nie upierał choć rzecz
jasna nie chcę przez to powiedzieć, że wspomniane wydawnictwo wystawia
zespołowi kiepskie świadectwo – bynajmniej! Cztery numery tworzące
tę pożegnalną (jak się okazało) EP’kę ukazują nam Nerlich jako załogę
, której członkowie na wylot znają zarówno pomnikowe
jak i te pomniejsze dzieła gatunku, więc trudno nawet udawać zdziwienie
faktem, że Finowie tak dobrze radzą sobie z wcielaniem w życie dźwiękowej
dewastacji będącej głębokim ukłonem i szczerym hołdem dla twórczości
wspomnianych powyżej ikon oraz całej armii im podobnych orkiestr,
których muzycznym spadkobiercą (jednym z wielu, ale to już
szczegół) w prostej linii jest (a właściwie był) właśnie
Nerlich. Zgromadzone do tej pory informacje możecie spokojnie potraktować
niczym zbiór wskazówek w miarę dokładnie określających
czego należy się po Nerlich oraz ich twórczości spodziewać,
więc oczekujcie ni mniej ni więcej jak tylko konkretnego, tradycyjnego
Death Metalowego łojenia opartego na „mięsistych” gitarach, intensywnej
pracy perkusji, robiącego przyzwoity „dół” basu oraz rasowego
growlingu. Numery są stosunkowo gęste i spójne jak również
przyzwoicie opracowane dlatego też możemy cieszyć się obcowaniem
z porządnym (rzekłbym, iż „rzemieślniczym”) Metalem Śmierci, którego
charakter dość wiernie odzwierciedla fascynacje muzyków Nerlich
twórczością przywołanych na wstępie gigantów. Oczywiście
gdyby porównać zawartość „Innards” z wczesnymi (o późniejszych
nawet nie wspominam) dokonaniami zarówno Amerykanów,
Kanadyjczyków czy też Holendrów okaże się, iż Finowie
grają mimo wszystko muzykę odrobinę prostszą, bardziej bezpośrednią
choć bez wątpienia i tak w miarę zaawansowaną technicznie. Na szczęście
chłopaki z Nerlich nie zapominają również o tym, aby swoje
dźwięki przyprawić odpowiednią dozą brutalności, co w rezultacie
owocuje gotowym „produktem” spełniającym właściwie wszystkie normy
przewidziane dla uprawianego przez zespół gatunku. Mamy zatem
solidną „wioślarską” bazę obfitującą w być może nie odkrywcze, ale
bez wątpienia zdające egzamin zagrywki (w tym i solówki),
ciekawe partie „garów” (szkoda, że brzmienie tego instrumentu
nieco kuleje, bo odrobinę wpływa to na odbiór a tym samym
ostateczną ocenę „Innards”), dość dobrze słyszalny przez cały czas
basior oraz uzupełniający ten obraz przepisowy growl. A między to
wszystko „wpompowano” naturalnie spore pokłady wściekłości, co czyni
muzykę Nerlich odpowiednio ofensywną. Utwory są raczej zwarte oraz
urozmaicone pod względem temp po które sięgnęli muzycy, więc
będziemy mieli do czynienia zarówno z szybką jazdą, średnimi
pochodami jak i miażdżącymi zwolnieniami. Warto również dodać,
że w dźwiękach tworzących „Innards” tkwi duch skandynawskiego Śmierć
Metalu, co poniekąd nadaje muzyce Nerlich tej specyficznej atmosfery.
Ogólnie rzecz biorąc „pożegnanie” Finów jawi się w
kategoriach nader solidnego acz z pewnością nie rewelacyjnego Śmierć
Metalowego grzańska, po które bez obaw można sięgnąć, choć
dla niektórych pewnie nie będzie to obligatoryjne.

Az Embalming Madness #1 spliten hallottam először a Nerlich muzsikáját,
tudjátok, azon volt a Decoherence, (amivel készült is interjú az első PH-ban)
meg a Gorgasm! (ma más neve van) Akkor nekem a finn nyelvtesók zenéje valahogy
laposabbnak tűnt az említett kettőéhez képest, és most is ezt érzem, vagyis azt
a pluszt, aminek kéne lennie. Egyszerű, kiszámítható, US death metal, sok
belassulással, stb. stb., sajnos, csak ismétlem magam, ha jellemzem e bandát,
mert rengeteg hasonló cuccot hallok manapság. Ja, egy szám kivétel, ami rejtett
track, így nem tudom a címét, szerintem valami feldolgozás több énekessel, fura
effektekkel, és rock and roll hangulattal… Kíváncsi lennék a hátterére.
Maga a kazetta fasza, igényes, vastag borítós, van rajta egy bandakép,
kontaktcím, meg beteg képek,- ahogyan már Gab-tól megszokhattuk. Nekem
kimondottan a belső borítón lévő tetszik, Thierry Demarez rajzolta, hogyha
valakinek ez mond valamit, nekem nem, vagyis annyit, hogy ugyanő követte el az
Entrails belső borítófestményét is. Így e két kazinak elég hasonló designje van,
gyakorlatilag a koncepciója ugyanolyan, a műfaját, és formátumát tekintve is ez
a helyzet, már csak magát a produkciót kéne ekképpen értékelnem, de az a
helyzet, hogy nem tudom így dícsérni a Nerlichet, az Entrails sokkal jobb.
Klasszisokkal. Bár, akinek bejön ez a lassú, doomos, tipikus death metal, az
írjon Gabnek, vagy Nuno-nak, a Caverna Abismal Distro tulajának, meg még
azoknak, akiknél láttam e kazit, és most nem emlékszem a nevükre, hahaha!
PUTREFACTIVE
EFFECT Zine (Fra)
NERLICH after a bunch of cool demos
and a quite brilliant album "Defabricated process", unleashed
this EP in 2008 as an ultimate dirge before split up. A sad decision
but why keeping up doing things if the guys aren't anymore into
what they're doing. However, NERLICH got a good approach of death
metal, rooted in the 90's era of the genre, with such influences
as old SUFFOCATION, old GORGUTS, old MORBID ANGEL, etc... The tracks
from "Innards" are in the continuation process of the
album (especially the first two tracks), the musicianship is still
good, the weak point being the drum sound (where's the kick-drum?
Is it this awful click?) but you could find again these particular
atmospheres from the album, you know these kinda occult ones reminding
PESTILENCE on "Testimony...". The two following tracks
are less captivating, more brutal they are just filling space in
my opinion. There is a 5th track, and I don't know if that's a cover
or a sick jam, a kinda punk/rock song, a MISFITS coversong? Anyway,
this EP has a strange taste, a bit like an unfinished business,
not bad but after a great album I probably expected more...

OF ZYGADENA Zine (Usa)
Another release of Nihilistic Holocaust rec I got from G and at the same
time another Death Metal act as if taken from early 90s. NERLICH serves us three
tracks of Technical but a bit dirty and underground Death Metal experimenting
with different speeds of their music; sometimes playing slow, after a moment
fast and again switch to mid-tempo, etc. Music from “Innards” is full of good
guitar-riffing and some solos, bass and drums sound fine too and all of that was
topped with low and harsh growling. This is typical Death Metal for Scandinavian
scene of early 90s and nothing will surprise you here. Or maybe I’m wrong
because I personally was surprised with 4th and last track from this
EP which is a kind of joke by NERLICH. It is a hidden track because it starts a
while after 3rd track is finished and sounds as one of funny
joke-compositions of SODOM in Rock’N’Roll, idiotic feeling.
The front cover of the tape version of “Innards” got
different drawing than the original CD version from 2008. This drawing was made
by G – owner of Nihilistic Holocaust rec who is responsible for a cassette
version of this material. And to be honest I like the drawing from the original
version more than this one.
To sum it up I can just say that it is not bad material but
it didn’t kill me on the spot and there is really nothing what I could praise or
I would take to be exceptional. NERLICH is just one more old-school worshipper
which I would be fine without. 55/100

Ten
zespół może się już pochwalić paroma sukcesami… Finowie mają już na koncie parę
demówek, jakiś split i pełny album. Tym razem wpadli w ręce Gaba (Pij Mleko!) z
Nihilistic Holocaust i tak oto narodziła się ta opisywana tu kaseta. Ledwie
cztery numery klasycznego Death Metalu, w których wyraźnie słychać pewne
elementy skandynawskiego grania, takie jak specyficznie mielące gitary
(SLUGATHOR - zresztą jeden z założycieli NERLICH był członkiem tej kapeli), oraz
chyba akustycznie nagrane bębny, co wprowadza dodatkowo „old schoolowy” klimat i
pozwala odnieść wrażenie, że „Innards” był nagrywany z półtorej – dwie dekady
temu. Naprawdę wspaniała praca gitar i dobry wokal- NERLICH jest jak rozpędzone
stado nosorożców. Dzikość i destrukcja! Żadnego bajerowania, zero ściemy- to
jest Death Metal, który ma siać śmierć i zniszczenie - yeah! Jest tu jeszcze
„ukryty” kawałek, który jest zdaje się żartem, taki skoczny, fajny numer dający
do zrozumienia, że chłopaki z NERLICH mają pomimo tej swojej „Złej” otoczki
dobrze ukierunkowane poczucie humoru. Doskonała alternatywa dla wypolerowanego
jak psie jaja Def Metalu a’ la Mystic Art., hehe! Polecam! Piszcie do Nihilistic
Holocaust, lub na adres zespołu- poniżej. (8,5/10).
THRASHOCORE

Nerlich, c'est fini depuis l'année dernière. Ce groupe finlandais peu connu a
pourtant sorti en 2007 un full-length fort sympathique intitulé Defabricated
Process et qui mélangeait avec réussite brutal death à la sauce américaine
et death metal scandinave. Avant de se retirer, le trio devenu duo laisse
l'année dernière un dernier témoignage, l'EP Innards, réédité ce mois de
novembre en tape sur Nihilistic Holocaust avec un nouvel artwork signé du boss
du label UG français. L'occasion de parler un peu du combo et de rattraper mon
retard vu que je n'avais pas encore posé mes oreilles sur cet EP.
Sur
cet Innards, Nerlich conserve sa recette de base mais modifie le dosage.
En gros, le death metal des Finlandais pioche toujours à la fois dans la scène
suédoise/finlandaise et dans la plus brutale scène américaine. Mais la part
laissée à cette dernière s'est réduite comme peau de chagrin. Innards
s'avère donc moins brutal que le full-length, plus old-school et s'inscrit
désormais plus dans cette mouvance revival DM à la mode depuis quelques années
(notez que je ne m'en plains pas vraiment!). La production, plus lourde et raw,
donne déjà un indice sur la direction prise par l'EP. Un bon son d'ailleurs, qui
colle bien aux compositions plus à l'ancienne des Finlandais mais dont le mix
place la batterie trop en avant, surtout la grosse caisse. Et sachant que le jeu
de Viktor Gullichsen est plus limité que celui de Teemu Mutka, ce n'est pas
vraiment une bonne chose. Rien d'horrible, rassurez-vous, les patterns de
batterie plus simples suivant logiquement l'évolution musicale. On pourra quand
même retrouver quelques blast-beats sur "Innards" (2'36) et "Altered Form Of
Life" (0'20), les semi-blasts typiquement américains étant cela dit plus
utilisés. En parlant de rythmiques, Nerlich ne se fait jamais trop rapide,
jamais trop lent, voyageant entre les deux extrêmes sans jamais les atteindre.
Innards est toutefois globalement plus tempéré que Defabricated
Process avec davantage de down-tempo (le milieu d'"Innards", l'intro lente
et sombre de "Sinister Depravation", la fin de "Hard Days Of Dismemberment").
Malheureusement, ça donne aux Finlandais un côté un peu trop mou. Quant aux
riffs, on est vraiment dans le super classique et il faut bien avouer qu'ici
Nerlich ne se démarque en rien de la tripotée d'autres groupes s'exerçant au
même style. C'est même souvent à la limite de la banalité, clairement moins
inspiré qu'avant. Le chanteur/guitariste Miikka Merikallio s'en sort par contre
fort bien avec ses soli mélodiques ("Innards", "Sinister Depravation", "Hard
Days Of Dismemberment") ou chaotiques ("Altered Form Of Life"). Son chant
restant le même que sur l'album à savoir des vocaux qui ressemblent plus à un
râle de tuberculeux qu'à du growl d'homme des cavernes. Et oui, le chant n'a
jamais été le point fort du groupe! L'EP se termine sur un cinquième titre non
répertorié et très surprenant car il s'agit d'un délire chanté en finnois sur
une musique de dessin animé. Complètement inutile et même pas marrant, j'aurais
préféré une vraie composition.
Un peu déçu par cet EP par rapport au
full-length, Innards reste malgré tout une dernière sortie sympathique
pour Nerlich. On en aurait juste espérer un peu plus car le combo semblait se
démarquer de la masse, Innards se plaçant comme un retour en arrière plus
classique et moins personnel. L'EP s'avère toutefois de bonne facture et devrait
convenir sans problème aux amateurs de death old-school nordique.

Listening to the "Innards" demo by Finnish NERLICH made me believe I was dealing
with average Death Metal mixing Thrash parts. Some nice breaks and riffs to keep
things flowing and bang away. Something nice for a first demo and especially the
production made it sound so oldschool it could've been from 20 years ago. Like
USA style Death Metal before it became too over the top. All sounded familiar in
some way and waiting for names to pop in my head to give you a clear hint (which
could safe a lot of cryptic blabbing and time) there's some SINISTER, some
PESTILENCE some GORGUTS without too strong similarities. In the four tracks
'Innards', 'Sinister Deprivation', 'Hard Days Of Dismemberment' and 'Altered
Form Of Life' all is kept within bounds and never too fast, heavy or brutal. The
last two more or less reminded me a bit of CANNIBAL CORPSE on "The Bleeding". It
isn't bad, it's just average, cool and done well. Convinced this would be their
first demo, I checked and found out NERLICH was actually formed in 2003 and this
is their 7th release as far as I know, before they split up last year. Not
familiar with former stuff I thought this could be considered a let down for
number 7 or a serious attempt by Miikka Merikallio (vocals, guitars) and Viktor
Gullichsen (drums) to grasp good old atmospheres. Definitely less serious and
pretty corny is the untilted fifth track. Something that will surely be fun to
live or when you're a nerd but over here it doesn't really help taking these
guys serious. I couldn't make more of it than that they were praising Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles. This demo is supposed to be released as an EP on VBP
Records and I'm sure they fit the rest of the artist over there… It sells for 3
