BESTIAL EXPERIENCE Webzine (Fra)

Si ce split CD sort en ce moment, la musique qui le compose n’est certainement pas d’actualité. Non, ici on revient à l’aube des années 90 là où le thrash est roi et le death commence à pointer le bout de son nez. Ce sont donc EXTINCTION AGENDA (USA) et OPRESSION (Suède) qui nous envoient leur thrash old-school directement dans la tronche sans passer par la case départ. Le premier des deux groupes se dit fan de KREATOR, TESTAMENT… ainsi que tous les groupes phares du thrash des 80’s. On peut le constater à l’aide des riffs biens speedés et des solos enragés, comme le faisaient leurs aînés. On rentre assez rapidement dans la musique des ricains, ce qui prouve son efficacité. La voix du chanteur me rappel parfois Mille Petrozza de KREATOR. Son timbre correspond tout à fait au speed/thrash d’EA. Pour une première sortie officielle ces américains ont réussi le pari de faire revivre les temps anciens. Bien joué ! Deuxième combo à l’affiche : OPPRESSION. Comme EA, on a le droit à un concentré de thrash pur jus. ANTHRAX semble être une influence évidente car les mosh-parts et les riffs rappellent Scott Ian et cie. Chez OPPRESSION aussi les zicos ont du talent et les nombreux leads nous le montrent. Mais le problème de ce groupe c’est le chanteur, comme vous aviez pu le lire dans la chronique du précédent split des suédois. Il ne s’accorde pas du tout avec les compos. Dommage. De ce split on retiendra d’avantage la prestation des américains bien que les deux groupe soient de bon niveau. En prime le son est plutôt bon mais six titres ça passe très (trop) vite.

Geilomat ! Was uns das ohnehin schon reichlich kaputte französische Webzine und Label Nihilistic Holocaust (Motto : „Join The Underground Battle Against Metal Posers“) hier auftischt, verdient nicht mal mehr die Bezeichnung „true“ – das hier ist nichts anderes als „trve“ ! Okay, ne Split Scheibe von den beiden total unbekannten Thrash Bands EXTINCTION AGENDA (USA) und OPPRESSION (Schweden) ist an sich ja nicht sooo spektakulär, aber das Drumherum schlägt echt alles. Das Ding ist streng limitiert (und nummeriert !) , kommt im MC Format (für alle Spätgeborenen : eine Kassette) daher und ist in blutrotes Papier verpackt, das natürlich in echter Handarbeit für jedes einzelne Exemplar zurecht geschnippelt wurde. Super ! Ohne auch nur einen einzigen Ton gehört zu haben, dürfen bereits jetzt alle Freaks da draußen gierig lechzend die karg gefüllte Brieftasche zücken, um das Teil zu verhaften, bevor es zu spät ist.
Für alle normalsterblichen Poser will ich aber auch noch ein paar Worte über die Musik verlieren : den Anfang machen die Neu-Engländer EXTINCTION AGENDA. Die Band existiert zwar erst seit 2004, hört sich aber absolut authentisch nach 1985 an. Die Herren Iconslaughter und Voltanix knüppeln äußert primitiven Teutonen Thrash irgendwo in der Schnittmenge aus Tankard und Sodom, natürlich meist schnell, immer gradlinig und ohne Schnickschnack direkt in die Eingeweide. Daß die Innovation dabei auf der Strecke bleibt ist logisch, aber das hohe Energielevel und das angenehm räudige Gekläffe von Iconslaughter reißen dieses Manko zu großen Teilen wieder raus. Die Produktion ist natürlich nicht gerade von exzellenter Qualität, geht für ein erstes Demo aber okay, und die kultig-peinlichen Horrorfilmintros haben auch was für sich. Coole Band mit angenehmem Rumpelcharme !
Weniger überzeugen können danach leider OPPRESSION, und das obwohl die Schweden hier immerhin schon mit ihrem dritten Demo vertreten sind, was man der Band spieltechnisch – speziell im Kontrast zu ihren Vorgängern – auch deutlich anmerkt. Natürlich dominiert hier ebenfalls pfeilschneller in-your-face Thrash, der allerdings eher an Dark Angel als an europäische Pioniere erinnert. OPPRESSION legen dabei sogar Wert auf halbwegs eingängige Mitgröl-Strukturen und richtig melodiöse Soli (ob das mal nicht schon zu ausgewimpt für ihr Label ist ?), haben aber leider mit ihrem – mittlerweile gefeuertem – Fronter Niklas Andreasson eine echte Schwachstelle im Line Up, der mit seinen leiernden, hellen Vocals die guten Ansätze seiner Kollegen gnadenlos an die Wand fährt. Irgendwie klingt der Kerl so, als hätte er sich vorher im Proberaum ein paar Pullen Hochprozentiges hinter die Binde gekippt und hätte anschießend direkt ins Mikro geblubbert. Lange anhören kann man sich das jedenfalls nicht, so daß die strukturell und auch handwerklich ausgereifteren Songs gegenüber den polternden Amis von der Ostküste doch deutlich abstinken.
Insgesamt also eine streckenweise halbwegs unterhaltsame Veranstaltung, aber wer außer knallharten Undergroundexperten und oben erwähnten „ich-muss-alles-haben-solange-es-true-und-limitierit-ist“ Kameraden soll sich so was zulegen ? Da das Label allerdings die Devise „Trades Are Welcome !“ ausgegeben hat, kann man andererseits mit ner Kopie auch gar nix falsch machen. Überspielen kann man es ja hinterher immer noch.

BLOOD DAWN Webzine (Ger)

Der Underground lebt. Vorliegende Promo-CDR (der Käufer bekommt ein Tape! Dass es so etwas noch gibt...) beinhaltet jeweils ein Demo von EXTINCTION AGENDA aus den U.S.A. und OPPRESSION aus Schweden und zeigt auf, dass fernab von großen Labels und der mittlerweile alltäglichen Geldmaschinerie junge Bands noch um ihre Daseinsberechtigung kämpfen.

EXTINCTION AGENDA bewegen sich in einer Melange aus Thrash und Old School Hardcore, wie man ihn zumeist von britischen Bands ende der 80er kennt. Wenn man bedenkt, dass es sich lediglich um ein Zwei-Mann-Projekt und einer waschechten Underground-Produktion handelt, ist es schon erstaunlich, wie gut die Stücke selbst mit diesem etwas besserem Proberaum-Sound rüberkommen. Für Puristen und all jene, die sich dafür interessieren, was so unter der Oberfläche schlummert, durchaus eine Empfehlung, zumindest mal reinzuhören.

OPPRESSION schlagen dann musikalisch in nahezu dieselbe Kerbe, klingen aber ein wenig gradliniger und moderner. Einzig und allein der Gesang, der eher mit normaler Stimme vorgetragen ist, lässt nicht gerade Begeisterungsstürme entfachen. Soundmäßig klingen sie ähnlich roh und einfach wie ihre Split-Partner. SLAYER kennen sie jedenfalls auch und das hört man immer mal wieder heraus. Durchaus OK.

Bleibt abschließend nur zu sagen, dass diese beiden Bands sicherlich deutlich besser klingen und durch eine richtig gute Produktion, von einem Label unterstützt, mit Sicherheit ihre Anhänger finden würden.

BLOOD OF THE ANCIENT Fanzine (Ger)

Did you ever wonder about what happened to the former DECEMBER WOLVES guys? – EXTINCTION AGENDA is the new band/project (?) of Iconslaughter and Voltanix (that has also been a member of SERPENT ECLIPSE before), and this time these maniacs preferred to concentrate on straight, but technically still very skilled Thrash Metal the old 80s-way instead of blasting through northern Black-Metal-landscapes. Somehow there are even some riffs that remind me of DECEMBER WOLVES involved, but the major impact is heavy as fuck Thrash Metal, embedded into a powerful sound. The three tunes featured on this tape were taken from the `Extinction Agenda` demo, the OPPRESSION tracks were originally included on the `T.P.A.S.` demo. The five Swedes definitely sound more traditional and "basic" compared to the US act. These maniacs` music is comparable to a hybrid between old EXODUS, FORBIDDEN EVIL and DARK ANGEL. So OPPRESSION definitely sound very authentic and truly dedicated to the rawer side of the Bay Area – technically this Swedish quintet is high above the average standard, so somehow this act is like the "secret winner" of this split! BRUTALISM Webzine (Hol)

Good to hear in the year 2005 this kind of music is still made.. Extinction agenda (U.S.A.) take us back to 80's and 90's aggressive death/thrash with a lot of variation in tempo. Guitarriffs are fast or groovy empowered by dynamical drumming and sickening screaming vocals. Sound is a little bit messy but keeps up the great vibe that should be expressed int his kind of music.

Oppression (Sweden) songs are take from their demo "T.P.A.S." which is already reviewed on this website. You don't have to hurry over there because you could buy any release of these thrashing bastards immediately if you like old school "in your face" speedthrash.

Extintion Agenda: I went to these guys website at My Space and looked over their profile. They say they are influenced by some of my favorite bands like Kreator, Venom, Bathory, Deathrow, Possessed, and Sabbat (UK) to name a few. The problem is that their liking those bands is the only positive I can find. Really this is garage Speed/Thrash Metal with nothing new. Sure its got fast parts and the guitars have some melody, but really its all stuff I have heard before, but done far better by the bands on their influence list. Honestly the only reason I do not flame all over these guys is cause they at least seem to have their hearts and minds in the right place. Here is a quote from their website “Extinction Agenda represents sincerity and determination in a scene bursting at the seams with trend. They draw their inspiration directly from the source of extreme metal, as opposed to streamlining within the latest flair and fashion. They temper the fury of traditional European thrash and death metal with a competent, provocative lyrical prowess centered firmly in the now.” Now, what I would like for them to do is follow through on what they wrote and make me eat my words on this review by putting out something truly awesome.

Oppression: Ah yeah, here we go with some old school sounding Thrash that takes me back to my high school days in the mid to late 80’s. This reminds me of traditional stuff in the vein of Vio-lence, Exodus, and Meliah Rage. The vocalist is a sort of clearer version of Tom Araya and they do the background shouting like Vio-lence decently. As a whole the music on the tape is rather clear making the guitar and bass come through pretty good. The solo’s are respectable and more creative than most bands pumping out the same shit. The drums have that Thrash flare for being more in the background, but still audible enough to punish. As a whole this isn’t bad I could listen to it a couple of times over and bust a couple of spine shattering head-bangs.

DARK MAG Webzine (Fra)

Voici un très bon split de deux groupes Thrash, réunis sous la bannière du nordiste label Nihilistic Holocaust. Pour un vieux maniaque comme moi de Thrash à l'ancienne, quel plaisir d'écouter ces groupes sonnant "à l'ancienne", jouant "à l'ancienne" et surtout, de voir que le "split à l'ancienne" et l'underground des années d'or ne sont bienheureusement pas morts ! On ne peut que remercier Nihilistic Holocaust pour sa bonne idée de rassembler deux aussi bons groupes ! Extinction agenda (E.A.) est américain ; on le ressent fortement. Oppression est suédois : c'est encore un Thrash de derrière les fagots mais la scène suédoise y a laissé une empreinte décelable. Ce split rassemble la première démo d'E.A. et la dernière d'Oppression : toutes deux de 2005.

J'aime particulièrement le duo américain d'Extinction Agenda : en effet, non seulement il sonne comme ces bons albums de Thrash des années 80-début 90, mais il a une réelle patate, une ambiance - grasse et sombre - de garage foudroyante... Il fleure bon ces années regrettées et chéries ! De plus, à son écoute, on se dit que les deux mecs doivent se perfuser de Thrash américain toute la journée : ça ressemble à ce que l'on peut connaître de plus pêchu chez les anglo-américains mais ça ne copie pas. Disons que E.A. suit l'ancien chemin que l'on a aujourd'hui abandonné – on ne peut que les remercier donc ! Les titres, introduits par des extraits de films d'horreur, sont bien foutus, bien construits, avec des breaks entraînants et des refrains facilement mémorisables : que du bon ! La batterie est carrée, sonne très live ; les guitares sont grasses et bien mises en avant, avec toutefois des soli bien trouvés. La voix est hargneuse et typique des prods Thrash. Je pense que Morbid Angel, Exodus et Grip Inc. pourraient avoir eu une quelconque influence sur le duo. Au final et après recherche, les deux gars font partie du même groupe : les blackeux de December Wolves – ce qui confirmerait le côté "blackened" de l'ensemble. Bref E.A. est un groupe à suivre.

Oppression joue sur des constructions un peu plus aérées et contrastées. Admettons : les guitares ont des riffs typiquement Thrash (de loin résonne Slayer...). Mais les constructions se révèlent un peu moins lourdes, mais aussi plus crossovers, exportant quelques éléments Hardcore, dont la sympathique voix (mais aussi avec cette folle batterie, qui part dans tous les sens : le frappeur a dû en jouir sur son siège tellement il remue ! Sacré feeling et jeu impérial ! ) voire - mais je m'y connais pas assez – "Néo-Thrash". La prod’ est différente : elle est meilleure mais est salie. Autre point agréable : la basse, jouée aux doigts, qui ronfle de ses grosses cordes. En résumé, ça bouge bien aussi de ce côté-ci : le Thrash est présent mais le groupe a osé se démarquer de la tradition, ce que n'a pas fait E.A.

Oppression met donc moins "la pression" que E.A. mais démontre une face plus relevée, plus aérée, plus hardcore – E.A. jouant sur le côté lourd et "blackened", qui n'est pas pour déplaire. Un excellent split donc !

DEFIANCE OF GOTHIC NIRVANA Newsletter (Usa)

There are still bands and labels who know what real underground metal is and that music on cassette will always be heavier than on CD, always! Our friend, G is a true warrior. This split is a bit short but all 6 songs rage in the classic tradition. Extinction Agenda from the US features some people who used to be in December wolves. These tracks are amazingly crushing. Non-trendy metal performed with power and guts.
Oppression, despite the simply and generic name, also thrash through 3 tracks that remind me of a time when Dark Angel were the best thrash metal band in the world. This cassette does have a warning on the cover. "We can't be taken responsible for broken necks or rapes of your wife and daughter". Very true cause if you can't bang your head with this madness then there is no hope for you my friend. Get this popular metal classic. My copy was #1119. That alone brings tears of joy to my heart.

DEVILMENT Fanzine (Fra)

Speed death is the divine mana we eat voraciously in this tape. I will talk about the split tape without discerning the two bands. They both ejaculated a filthy assault of underground extreme metal of death. If Slayer was an underground speed death band they would surely sound like Extinction Agenda and Oppression. It is so fukking fresh to hear this stale release!!!

ETERNAL TERROR Webzine (Nor)

Det er ikke ofte det dukker opp kassetter nå for tiden, og så er ikke tilfelle denne gangen heller, hehe. Dette er en brent kopi på CD av denne utgivelsen på dette lille franske undergrunnsselskapet Nihilistic Holocaust. Men det er greit nok det, so here goes. Her handler det om 2 heller ukjente band, det første fra USA og det andre fra Sverige og begge bandene bidrar med 3 låter hver. Alle låtene er for øvrig hentet fra bandenes 2005 demoer og finnes dermed utgitt hver for seg også. Extinction Agenda spiller old school thrash the dirty way. Lyden er skitten og tempoet i gata som Audiopain ligger i. Med nærmere ettertanke så er det mer med dette amerikanske 2 mannsbandet som minner om Audiopain. Dog, dette er ikke av samme kvalitetsmerke som Audiopain, men det er kult og som sagt skittent. Kanskje en smule blackthrash her og der. Betviler ikke at dette må være fett i en livesituasjon. Oppression kommer som sagt fra Sverige og også her handler det om thrash metal the dirty old way med mye kaotiske trommer langt framme i lydbildet og masse kjapp riffing. Men til forskjell fra Extinction Agenda så har bandet her en vokalist som kjører med mer semiclean vokal av samme type som Billy Milano i Stormtroopers of Death (S.O.D.). Dette gir bandet en mer punkete thrash stil og det låter ikke så veldig dumt heller. Denne utgivelsen er kanskje et tegn på at det gror fortsatt godt i thrash metal verdenen og jeg hører svært gjerne mer fra begge disse bandene.

FOEDUS AETERNUS Fanzine (Fra)

EXTINCTION AGENDA provient des States, et cette demo est leur première ébauche en matière de Death/Thrash qui n’a techniquement rien à envier aux décalcomanies qui peuplent les tabloïds de nos confrères métalliques, seul le lissage sonore diffère. Ces deux groupes ont en commun le sens du ratissage. Un mélange des influences actuelles ou non, leur travail ayant au moins le mérite d’être sérieux mais il y manque encore une bonne dose de tempérament. Dommage, dommage que la musique souffre autant de l’encodage faiblard du mp3, l’aspect métallique du son est fort agaçant, surtout si on a le malheur de focaliser sur ce détail, après coup, plus moyen de s’en défaire. Ahhh ! Je l’aime bien cette OPPRESSION, en ce sens que ces headbangers ont réussi à inoculer leurs influences telles que VIO-LENCE, SADUS, DARK ANGEL en les intercalant à leur Thrash furax, la réussite, clé en main. La manière de composer a aussi évoluée et a même été optimisée pour chasser tous les temps morts et autres riffs superflus. Mon plus gros regret réside dans le fait que la basse, pertinente et bien présente sur la précédente démo finisse aussi en retrait dans le mixage final. A noter que le chanteur apporte beaucoup de par son timbre de voix si particulier, malheureusement celui-ci ne sera plus dans les futures valises du groupe. Ces gaillards seront bientôt prêts pour passer à la prochaine étape : l’enregistrement d’un bon petit album de Thrash maison.

GUTS OF DARKNESS Webzine (Fra)

THHRRAASSHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!! Ah enfin un split qui vaut vraiment le coup ! Gab a très bon goût en matière de thrash et il fait plus que nous le prouver avec ce disque. Extinction agenda et surtout Oppression, c'est comment dire... La crème du thrash actuellement ? Dès le départ on a compris, c'ets une véritable machine à remonter le temps que nous propose ces deux groupes. Une déferlante thrash 80's, d'une fraîcheur rare, une énergie (surtout Oppression, c'est vraiment là dessus qu'ils écrasent la concurrence) incroyable, argh que c'est bon de s'enfiler çà en boucle... A 150 le casque bien vissé dans vos oeilles sur votre harley, les cheveux au vent, la bière à la bouche, la playmate aux gros nichons derrières, that's life ! Voilà à quoi me fait penser ce split ! Une patate d'enfer, de l'inspiration en veux-tu en voilà (Extinction Agenda arrache vraiment), des solos (pour Oppression) toujours aussi énormes. Voilà bien deux formations qui renvoient les "come back" ridicules de Destruction ou Exodus aux oubliettes ! Les élèves ont dépassé les maîtres (enfin toutes proportions gardées), EA et Oppression sont là pour montrer ce qu'est le vrai thrash. Retenez bien ces deux noms, ils vont bientot vous péter à la gueule à grands renforts de riffs, chant arraché et autres solos démoniaques... Buy it or die ! 5/6

IN EXTREMIS Zine (Fra)

3 titres chacun pour ce split 100% thrash. Ça démarre sur les chapeaux de roues avec les ricains Extinction Agenda, duo au sein duquel on retrouve un ex-December Wolves (Earache) qui a aussi joué dans Serpent Eclipse (Oaken Shield). On pense immanquablement à Slayer, à Venom, Razor, Holy Terror et Deathrow. Bref à la grande époque du thrash 100% naturel sans adjonction de conservateur ni de colorant. Du brut de brut qui témoigne d’un groupe on ne peut plus sincère qui prend un plaisir évident à jouer… et nous à l’écouter. Dommage que les intros parlées soient si chiantes, c’est pour moi le seul reproche qui me vient à l’esprit. Oppression, vous les connaissez si vous lisez souvent cette newsletter. Je vous avais déjà parlé de leur précédente démo "Left To Perish" (dans le #11). Eux sont suédois et ces 3 titres sont issus de leur nouvelle démo 2005, dans une veine Exodus / Slayer en moins death Obituariesque que leur précédent essai et un chanteur old-school qui peut finir par agacer à la longue. Au final, on aura assisté à un bel et noble duel au terme duquel je concède volontiers un avantage à Extinction Agenda.

KASTRATÖR Fanzine (Fra)

Whoaou!! Finally an Old School Thrash Metal tape to put itself into our ears. And not of the least, cause we have new good Thrash Metal bands Extinction Agenda and Oppression on the same tape! Extinction Agenda plays a Thrash Metal in the vein of early Slayer, Exodus, Razor and Kreator for example. Their music is very brutal with old School Thrash Metal parts and some loud sounds. Vocals are wild and hateful but not really powerful, indeed, they are back to the music with movies samples between each song. There are members of December Wolves and Serpent Eclipse in this band. The second formation that figures on this tape is Oppression, a very interesting, effective and original Thrash Metal band in the vein of Dark Angel, old Slayer or old Sadus with its own touch. This Swedish combo performs a Thrash Metal in the oldest way embellished with some guitar solos, catchy and raging riffs. Concerning vocals, this singer is not a singer; it is more as if he was a sort of actor playing with his voice as the great Jello Biaffra does!! Indeed, the song can be compared to a roller coaster rising and descendant with an extreme aptitude and an extraordinaire energy! Oppression is an impressive and great band! Good tape with two cool Thrash Metal bands playing bay Area music!

KLASMA Fanzine (Ger)

Good ol’ Gab can’t help doing it. And releases another split tape. Besides the americans of EXTINCTION AGENDA, OPPRESSION from Sweden offer new material. They already were present at a split with Deep Vein and Bloody Sign. In EXTINCTION AGENDA we can find Voltanix and (meanwhile) Brian Oblivion, which were members of the Black Metal band December Wolves, if someone remembers. But it doesn’t mean anything here, because the three-pack (with vocalist and bass player Iconslaughter) celebrates Thrash Metal of the brand „Teutonicus" with a little Speed impact. The three songs of their recent demo kicks heavily ass. As oldschool as the outfit of the tape, so is the musick of EXTINCTION AGENDA. Give a fuck to trends. Give a fuck to melodies. They thrash as there weren’t the last fifteen, twenty years. Though the guys actually gathered end of last year, they sound like a perfectly fitting team. Even the sound will become better with the currently new axe-man. OPPRESSION, as I said, hail from Sweden and prefer the Bay Area variation of Thrash. Like Extinction Agenda OPPRESSION provide their new three track demo. One thing in between: if I get it right, the guys fired their shouter. At last! Unfortunately he did the recent stuff. „To sing" would be a flattered word. This yodeling is powerless, without pressure and absolutely nerving. I hope that the new shouter (Olof Wikstrand) will bring in some verve. So if we delete the „vocals", there remains a quite cool wrecking, which brings some melodies along. The band reduces the dominant bass sound of the older stuff a little bit. But it’s even good to hear anyhow. So what, EXTINCTION AGENDA are quite more authentic. And I wait for more stuff of OPPRESSION with a new mic torturer.

KRONICS Webzine (Fra)

Une première chronique des excellentes sorties du label confidentiel Nihilistic Holocaust, spécialisé de fait dans le death et le thrash old-school qui raviront les fans de Sodom, Kreator, Slayer, Destruction, Exodus, Autopsy. Etant donné que j'en suis, difficile de résister... Ici, nous avons à faire à un split des amerloques d'Extinction Agenda et des suédois d'Oppression. Pour les premiers, death thrashisant rapide classique et bien torché, extrêmement proche des deux premiers Sodom, avec parfois au milieu des soli superbes façon "Kerry King joue du Chuck Chuldiner", et une ambiance générale thrash old-school pré-black métal (les fans de Venom, Celtic Frost, Sodom et Destruction comprendrons).
Passons aux suédois. Cette intro de basse.... comment ne pas penser aux débuts chez Anthrax de Frank Bello ? D'une façon générale, il y a quelque chose dans les arrangements d'Oppression qui rappelle la bande de Scoot Ian dans ses premiers jours... y compris le chant, qui, pour "germanique" qu'il reste, n'en garde pas moins une affectation pointue qui rappellera, au choix, André Dassary (OLD !... non, j'déconne) ou Joey Belladonna. N'oublions pas aussi des passages plus lourds et travaillés, traversés de soli fulgurants, rapides et techniques, parfaitement réussis. Finalement, un peu moins efficace qu'Extinction Agenda pour des raisons vocales, mais foutre ! ne boudons pas le plaisir d'écouter des groupes d'aujourd'hui comme si l'on exhumait d'une improbable crypte un album inédit enregistré par Slaycred Reich (ou plutôt ici par "Slaydomhrax"). Excellent !

Koen: 763 copies of this tape have been made to promote Nihilistic Holocausts war against their so called "Thrash Gothenburp Gayness". Those who've read my reviews the past few months are aware that I personally adore the Gothenburg sound, so I'm not a brother in arms for this battle. This doesn't mean I'm an opponent to the Nihilistic Holocaust tapes, because I really like these thrashing metal split extravaganza. This cassette contains Extinction Agenda from the U.S. of A. and Oppression from Sweden. Oppressions 'T.P.A.S.'-demo which is featured on this cassette was already reviewed in our June issue, so I won't bother reviewing this demo again.
« Oppression is emerging from Falkenberg (Sweden) and presents their third demo. The first two strikes were entitled 'Violence Will Dominate' and 'Left To Perish' (over 1300 copies sold). The band was formed in 2002 and consists of Nicklas Andreasson (vocals), Tor Nyman (guitars and backing vocals), Joachim Törnqvist (guitars), Fredrik Petersson (bass) and Jakob Strand (drums). All members were born between 1984 and 1987 and the furious Bay Area orientated thrash metal is rooted in this era. The music is in the vein of Vio-Lence, Sadus and Legacy (Testament) and vocals remind me of John Connelly (Nuclear Assault) and Don Doty (ex-Dark Angel). I am not too fond of the vocals, but musically these guys are quite good. The vocal ideas are there but they are a bit limp in relation to the backing voices so I think the vocals need more power and variation. A good producer can help the band achieve that. I am very curious how this band will develop in the near future but I'm sure Oppression will get a record deal soon. »

Extinction Agenda has got a quite interesting line-up consisting of Iconslaughter (vocals, guitars, bass) and Voltanix (drums, guitars, bass). Iconslaughter was a member of Dungeonbat, Ironhide, and industrial black metal crossover act Ghidorah. He has released several CDs from each of these under his independent micro-label Storming Sky Industries. Voltanix was a member of seminal New England black metal outfit December Wolves up until the release of 'Completely Dehumanized' through Earache Records in 1998. He was later involved in several independent projects, which culminated in the release of his Serpent Eclipse album 'The Seven Desires and Wolves Blood' through Adipocere Records from France. There's only three songs on their 'Extinction Agenda' demo from 2005: 'Inter Arma Silent Leges', 'Trafficking Apathy' and 'Creature Of Unconscious Design' which are excellent examples of the "Eighties Thrash Metal Revisited"-Movement. Did you grow up with the likes of Kreator, Exodus, Tankard, Venom or Razor? Do not hesitate to get in touch with these maniacs! Rating: 86/100

Une connaissance s’écriait il y a quelques jours, à propos du Thrash, que seules quelques démos et quelques groupes restaient fidèles au style originel, le reste ayant complètement perverti l’essence même de cette mouvance. A cette remarque, je ne saurais que trop lui conseiller de jeter une oreille sur le split du jour que nous offre Nihilistic Holocaust, à savoir la mise en relation des méfaits d’Extinction Agenda et de ceux d’Oppression.

Commençons par les premiers à faire sauter les tympans des pauvres auditeurs qui tomberont sur ce split, j’ai nommé, Extinction Agenda. Ca démarre sur les chapeaux de roue avec un « Inter Arma Silet Leges » de derrière les fagots, où l’on retrouve tous les ingrédients propres au Thrash, à savoir des rythmiques enlevées entrecoupées de passages plus lourds, des guitares oscillant entre riff en béton armé et mélodies bien senties. Ajoutez y un chant rageur et vous obtenez un condensé de violence et d’énergie. Pour les fanatiques d’expérimentations en tout genre, d’audace et d’avant-garde, ces trois titres s’avéreront être une véritable torture. Je ne vous épargnerais pas ce dicton populaire selon lequel c’est dans les meilleurs pots que l’on fait la meilleure confiture (ou soupe, c’est selon), mais le duo américain parvient à édifier des pièces somme toute très classiques, attendues, mais loin d’être désagréables. « Trafficking Apathy » est un pur moment de plaisir pour qui apprécie une musique assimilable rapidement, dont le seul but avéré semble de faire bouger de façon frénétique la tête du quidam qui l’écouterait. La production, ni trop propre, ni trop « cheap », rend compte de façon parfaite, de chaque partie, de chaque instrument. Le flot de décibel engendré par ces deux énervés ne baisse pas d’intensité, même si c’est un titre plus posé, mid tempo, qui achève la prestation courte mais très appréciable de nos amis d’outre atlantique.

Oppression prend le relais, avec trois morceaux également endiablés. Pour avoir déjà eu affaire avec les suédois, que l’on retrouvait aux côtés de Deep Vein et de Bloody Sign, je ne suis pas déçu de retrouver ce sympathique groupe, bien que peu de choses aient évoluées depuis leur précédente livraison. Au niveau musical, une plus grande maîtrise du sujet est tout de même indéniable, mais, là où le bas blesse toujours, c’est au niveau de ce chant clair que je n’apprécie toujours pas. A part ces horripilants vocaux, la musique du quartet laisse entrevoir un potentiel important. Des rythmiques assez diversifiées, des solos aiguisés sont les points forts de cet enregistrement. La production, que je trouve un poil moins percutant que celle de leur compagnon de disque, n’en demeure pas moins puissante et relativement honnête. Des chœurs viennent parfois se glisser au sein de cette déferlante musicale, ce qui ne fait que renforcer le côté daté de ces chansons. Car, disons le une fois encore, ce n’est pas dans une originalité énorme qu’ont été forgé ces brûlots.

En a peine plus de vingt minutes, ces deux formations que sont Extinction Agenda et Oppression viennent de graver dans le marbre leur fidélité à un style en voie de perdition. Si vous souhaitez faire une plongée dans les années 1980, où le Thrash était roi, foncez sur ce split. Rien de nouveau sur le soleil, mais un cocktail d’énergie et de fureur qui fait un bien fou. Ma préférence va assez nettement aux compositions des américains, mais je reconnais un certain talent aux suédois, qui gagnerez à changer de chanteur. Un disque direct, violent qui prouve que le Thrash est un genre musical qui se porte encore à merveille.

Ultrathrash wie dieser hier ist mehr als selten geworden. Beide Bands haben sich dem Sound verschrieben, der um die Jahrzehntwende der 80er in die 90er gerne in den USA gedonnert wurde. Ich erinnere an SADUS oder KAOS mit ihrem ersten Demo.
Und so geht es bei den Amis EXTINCTION AGENDA und den Schweden OPPRESSION auch schön infernalisch zu, ohne daß man auf packende Gitarrenmelodien verzichtet, die das Feuer nur noch mehr anheizen. Originell sind beide Bands nicht wirklich, aber sie haben eine wahnsinnige, mitreißende Art. Kein Vergleich zu aktuellen Truppen, die zwar thrashen, aber keinen Sinn mehr für geniale Harmonien haben. Zudem ballern beide Bands sehr ungezwungen und entfesselt drauflos, ohne natürlich die Struktur zu verlieren, das macht eine gute Thrashband aus. Würde ich jederzeit solchen Truppen wie THE HAUNTED, SOILWORK oder gar den neuen DESTRUCTION vorziehen, bei denen einfach dieses Element fehlt. Selbst die altehrwürdigen EXODUS sind da schon lange aus.
Nein, dieses Split Tape hier ist echter Metal, so wie er gehört. Keine trendigen Anbiederungen, dafür umso ungestümere und doch einprägsame Powerriffs und tosende Rhythmen, die Deinen Arsch zu einem blutenden Klumpen machen und Deine Nackenwirbel ruinieren. Vielleicht bin ich zu alt dafür, den aktuellen Thrash noch wirklich wertzuschätzen, aber mal ehrlich, da fehlt doch was, oder? Und genau das besitzen die Bands auf diesem Tape...LEIDENSCHAFT, unzähmbare Lust und Liebe zur Musik.

I can tell you this right from the start - this is not for me! I find it quite annoying at times, to be honest.
Extinction Agenda starts this split off with a dirty, speeding old school thrash track. I suppose the drums and strings work together in a fair amount of harmony, and the vocals are rough and in the typical old school way. But I just don't find it appealing. The second track is just the same, but for the third track they slow it down for a heavier feeling. And that just makes it even worse. Yup, not for me...
I was afraid to even listen to the Oppression part of the split, as my previous experience with 'em was quite laughable. Bit I'll be damned, the slick and tight guitars that starts this off really grabs my attention. And then the man starts to sing... I never thought I'd say this, but I think he sounded better on the previous demo, and he sounded like a eunuch who stumped his toe and hammered his thumb. And this time it sounds like he's not even making much of an effort. Not a tiny bit of roughness in it. Some kind of horrible clean vox. I honestly have no idea what the hell he's doing. However, there are some highlights to this. The choir in the end of T.P.A.S and Merciless deception would be really powerful if the guy just learned how to sing. And the opening riff to Merciless deception is damn cool. There are some growling hidden in the background of Act of faith. Now they should go with those vocals instead, 'cause that would make it a whole lot better.

NEKROLOGIUM Webzine (Swe)

Thrash metal is the name of the game on this split tape. And both American Extinction Agenda and Swedish Oppression come across as quite decent bands. We are not exactly talking about your average run of the mill retro-thrash act in either case. Both bands have their own style instead of simply trying to copy Kreator, Destruction or Sodom. I can't say much more about Extinction Agenda than that it's ok stuff. About Oppression, whom I have reviewed on another Nihilistic Holocaust release before, I would like to say that although I still regard them as one of Sweden's best thrash acts at the moment, this recording did not appeal to me as much as the one that I reviewed before. The odd vocal style is not as convincing as it used to be. The early Dark Angel approach have now turned into an even weirder Vio-lence/Gammacide approach that I can easily see will scare some people off. Plus that the dirtier, early Dark Angel/Recipients of Death/Gammacide/Bloodfeast/Sacrifice style when music is concerned is now a bit more polished and more in the Bay Area style than it used to be. grade: 3

Une nouvelle cassette de chez Nihilistic Holocaust, ça fait toujours plaisir, mais là tout spécialement. C’est en effet avec enthousiasme que je reçois la suite des aventures des suédois de Oppressor, qui m’avaient tellement mis sur le cul il y a quelques mois et que je ne m’attendais pas à retrouver si vite. Pour leur nouvelle production, ils se sont associés au groupe américain Exctinction Agenda pour nous balancer, comme il se doit, une split tape entièrement thrash old school. Les deux groupes officient d’ailleurs à peu prêt dans le même registre, à savoir un thrash de la grande époque très influencé par Dark Angel. Le premier groupe a cependant une touche un peu plus mélodique, puisque qu’on trouve des éléments propres à Sadus en plus, voire même des riffs presque death signés Tampa. Une production plus que correcte rend ce thrash indispensable. Le seul regret qu’on peut avoir, c’est l’absence de solos de tueurs sur ces trois titres… On est old school ou on l’est pas, bordel ! C’est loin d’être dramatique, mais ce serait ce qui pousserait le groupe dans l’excellence. Viennent ensuite Oppression, et comme la dernière fois, qu’elle classe, quelle bonheur ! Musicalement on reste dans le même trip, avec une influence quasi constante de Dark Angel époque "Darkness Descent", c’est à dire des riffs frénétiques, un chant qui crache sa haine juste comme il faut. C’est d’ailleurs ce chant qui a le plus progressé sur cette production, bien mieux produit et exécuté que sur la précédente, et ça ne me rend que plus fan encore du combo. Il n’y a rien à redire, les compos sont percutantes, et "l’esprit thrash" y est présent à mort. Une bien belle leçon à nouveau, et une pierre de plus à l’édifice déjà bien solide de Nihilistic Holocaust production. (Stench)

Arrrrgh! Fucking hell! A thrash bastard, fucking devestating my brain and giving my liver the advice to drown it in vodka, cigarettes and hellfire! EXTINCTION AGENDA is a furious thrash band conquering your neck from the USA. It's a bit surprising because this band has a european touch in their music - I mean you always have these deep grunts of hardcore-styled vocals in american bands so I was pretty surprised to hear a voice on this tape that reminds me a bit on Infernal Overkiller (the vokiller of Bestial Desecration) without these high-pitched screams. The riffing of this band is a monster. If someone listens to it in the car, you must be careful that you don't risk your driver's license for it. In case they're not swinging the Speed Metal hammer they groove like hell - and here I don't mean the "Jump, jump, bounce, bounce" groove shit. It's definitely this third song on this tape (each band contributes 3 songs) that puts me down to the ground. EXTINCTION AGENDA kills!!!
OPPRESSION starts in the same vein but a bit more dirty. Very cool speed and aggression but then the vocals start. The worst thing is that they (the vocals) start pretty average but then in the chorus they are really falling on my nerves. What follow is a cool lead mixed up with the right feeling for riffs and cool headbanging parts. But everytime the vocals start it's disappointing for me. Sorry guys. Nevertheless, I would call this tape a worthy effort for Speed Metal Maniacs, especially because of EXTINCTION AGENDA!!!

REIGN IN PAIN Webzine (Bel)

EXTINCTION AGENDA : This young outfit was formed in 2004 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, USA, and plays typical thrash metal very influenced by awesome acts such as SLAYER (one of the band's biggest influence IMO), RAZOR, KREATOR, etc. I don't really like the vocals ... don't know why ... but somethin' bothers me ... Nevertheless, this demo is a good piece of thrash metal that will without doubt please every underground maniac haunting the web for new bands to flush out ! 06/10

OPPRESSION : If you've already visited most of my site, you know I'm really into thie fucking Swedish band. IMO, OPPRESSION is the best Swedish band in activity with TERRORAMA. This tape features the band's 2005 demo : T.P.A.S. ! Once again I've to say : congratulations ! Yes, this demo tape rules ... Faithfull to their roots, the band's members propose us fast and brutal thrash metal ! Impressive ! Support ! 08/10

RESISTANCIA UNDERGROUND Webzine (Fra)

Décidément Nihilistic Holocaust, fidèle à sa réputation, n’est pas prêt de se fourvoyer dans les bassesses de la médiocrité ambiante et, nous pond encore une fois un Split tape dans la plus pure tradition UG et dans son plus simple apparat.

EXTINCTION AGENDA: Extinction Agenda est de ces groupes dont il est difficile d’acquérir beaucoup d’informations, je passerais donc, malheureusement, outre les sempiternelles biographies pour aller à l’essentiel. Les trois titres présentés sous l’égide de ce duo sur ce Split tape, ont la charge mais aussi le mérite d’entamer de manière fortement expéditive et spontanée une prod à rebondissement et évolutive, prod qui ne satisfera sans doute pas tout ses acquéreurs. Ce sera alors, en un melting-pot d’influences toutes aussi différentes les unes des autres, qu’Extinction Agenda proférera un art majoritairement Thrash/Death dans la lignée d’un Rigor Mortis putassierement croisé Possesed / Deceased. Par conséquent, c’est avec une rage certaine et indescriptible, que ces trois déjections régurgitées par Iconslaughter et Voltanix terrasseront tout autant les plus avertis, que les plus profanes. La guitare vous tabassera les meules aussi frénétiquement qu’une gégène façon pince croco montée sur du 380 watt dans une baignoire d’excréments faisandés, et, son touché Thrash épileptique vous rappellera certainement celui d’un bon vieux Kreator ou Sodom des tout début. Notons l’incorporation spartiate de solos complètement perturbés est foutrement bien placés qui castreraient à la scie à métaux le plus téméraire des maniaques de la Chapel Of The Freaks. La destroy attitude est palpable… Que dire de la batterie, si ce n’est qu’elle martèle cette offensive sonore avec autant de furie que pourrait le faire un masse-murderer sanguinaire paré d’un marteau-pilon, lâché au beau milieu d’une cour maternelle par heure de grande récréation. Le maximum de dommages collatéraux est indubitablement la volonté première de cette formation qui ne nous laisse aucun répit du début à la fin. Les performances vocales seraient semblables à celles d’un « World Demise » d’Obituary qui aurait copulé avec le « Symbolic » de Death. Ces vociférations sont donc un atout supplémentaire, interférant fortement sur l’aspect haineux et cru de ces trois compositions. Au terme de ces quelques propos, il s’avère que Extinction Angenda reste plus que tout une entité propre et personnelle, déployant, en un feeling assez peu conformiste, un Thrash/Death aussi incisif et cru que recherché et subtil.

OPPRESSION: Passons donc maintenant à Oppression qui, tout comme son prédécesseur, reste une combo assez avare d’informations. -Le lien n’étant plus fonctionnel…- Le Thrash 80’s de ces Suédois est de retour après une apparition sur le Bleeding The Fist ! » également chroniqué en nos pages, et, je me vois dans l’obligation de dire, à quelques exceptions prés, que le constat reste, à mon goût, le même. Nous somme toujours en présence d’un Thrash assez couillu proche de celui d’un Nuclear assault et d’un Testament dans les grandes lignes. Influences somme toute respectables. A noter que pour une démo, la production est très honorable et qu’elle aura le mérite de botter bien des culs tendus. Les vocaux Punkisant restent pour ma part toujours aussi déconcertants car très proches d’un Exkrement ou d’un Rectum, emmanchés d’une fuck-you attitude aux sonorités un peu trop « Coreuse» à mon goût. La basse déploie une technique impressionnante non négligeable, mais ce petit côté groovy me dérange, une fois de plus, quelque peu….La guitare reste convenable et même très appréciable car elle nous gratifie d’un touché fidèle au genre recherché. La batterie reste inflexiblement bien agencée, exacerbant l’effet effronté & insoumis escompté, tant elle à le mérite de suivre parfaitement bien les particularités du répertoire du groupe. Encore une fois et pour conclure, même si l’initiative de G est amplement respectable, je pense qu‘un changement de vocaliste serait le bienvenu afin de mettre en valeur la réelle quintessence d‘Oppression et, de pouvoir prétendre marcher fièrement et la tête haute en compagnie de groupe tels que Extinction Agenda. On notera malgré tout une volonté indéniable de la part d’Oppression de créer une musique propre et singulière tout en restant fidèle à l’intégrisme du genre. Encore une fois, mon seul regret est que le potentiel reste palpable mais trop sous-exploité.

Se per caso aveste dato un'occhiata alla sezione mailorder di Shapeless, avreste senz'altro notato le parole d'elogio che teonzo ha speso nei riguardi della Nihilistic Holocaust. Fanzine, mailorder ed etichetta, la Nihilistic Holocaust è di proprietà di G. S. grande e genuino appassionato dell'underground. Gente come lui, ormai, è merce rara. Oltre ad avere dei prezzi veramente bassi, il buon Gab ha preso l'abitudine di aggiungere promo e demo in regalo ad ogni ordine. Le sue motivazioni sono semplici: afferma che in questo modo contribuisce a promuovere l'underground e, seconda cosa, ricevere della musica bonus è sicuramente più bello per l'acquirente! E come dargli torto? Così infatti è avvenuto con un ordine da me effettuato. Gab però non si è limitato ad aggiungere cassette e CD-R: ha anche allegato alcune compilation e produzioni della sua Nichilistic Holocaust, chiedendomi cortesemente di diffondere e recensire quanlora ne avessi avuto tempo e voglia. Cose che lasciano disarmati, vero? Passiamo dunque alla recensione di questa bella cassetta split tra gli Extinction Agenda e gli Oppression. La copertina è in carta rossa, in puro stile underground. Tra i due logo campeggia una testa cornuta. All'interno, tra i foglietti ripiegati, si trovano tutte le informazioni relative ai due gruppi. Più i vari e classici motti che ricordano i tempi andati, tipo "la morte è certa, la vita no, perciò continua a scuotere la testa", oppure "unisciti alla battaglia underground contro i megaposer!". In più vi è anche un ammonimento: "sappiate che non possiamo assumerci la responsabilità per le gole tagliate o per gli stupri a vostra moglie e vostra figlia... SOLO IL METAL E' REALE!". Eheheh... Conoscendo l'intelligenza di Gab, è ovvio che certe frasi siano da intendersi soprattutto in senso ironico. Gli Extinction Agenda sono americani, e consistono in Iconslaughter (voce, chitarra e basso) e Voltanix (batteria, chitarre e basso). Prima di aver formato questo gruppo, i musicisti hanno suonato nei December Wolves e nei Serpent Eclipse. Le tre tracce che costituiscono la loro sezione di split, sono tratte da "Extinction Agenda Demo 2005". "Inter Arma Silent Leges" è una vera mazzata nello stomaco: thrash puro ed oscuro, come non se ne sentiva da tempo. Gli Extinction Agenda guardano al passato, questo è sicuro. Sono però abbastanza intelligenti da aggiornare la propria proposta musicale con qualche influenza più moderna, il death melodico ad esempio. Le vocals sono pulite e leggermente effettate. La qualità di registrazione è scadente, ma comunica bene la potenza esecutiva del gruppo. Anche "Trafficking Apathy" non si risparmia in quanto ad impatto. E' una cavalcata arrembante, che lascia scie di sangue al suo passaggio. L'esecuzione è priva di sbavature, e carica di energia. Riff taglienti e ritmica serrata: eh sì, in casa di questi americani il thrash gode proprio di buona salute! "Creature Of Unconscious Design" è invece un vigoroso mid-tempo, che dimostra come il gruppo se la cavi bene anche in momenti meno spediti. Vorrei fare una precisazione. La mia descrizione delle canzoni segue la track-list scritta sul libretto. Ascoltando però i testi, non so... non vorrei che "Trafficking Apathy" e "Creature Of Unconscious Design" fossero invertite. Ora, non ritengo sia il caso di contattare il gruppo per risolvere la questione. Il succo della loro parte di split è questo, punto e basta. Ritengo comunque utile che il lettore sia a conoscenza di questo mio sospetto, che tra l'altro potrebbe rivelarsi poi infondato. Passiamo ora agli Oppression, già recensiti in passato su Shapeless. Il gruppo non aveva convinto molto il recensore: secondo me invece questi svedesi ci sanno fare. Le tre tracce che li rappresentano sono state tratte dal demo del 2005 intitolato "T.P.A.S.". La formazione consiste in Tor Nyman (voce), Niklas Andersson (voce), Fredrik Petersson (basso), Joachim Törnqvist (chitarra) e Jakob Strand (batteria). "T.P.A.S." è una canzone molto tirata e violenta. Come per gli Extinction Agenda, anche gli Oppression suonano un thrash retrò e senza compromessi. Anzi, a dire il ero qualche piccolo compromesso c'è: di tanto in tanto, gli svedesi non resistono alla tentazione di prodigarsi in qualche sezione melodica. Particolare il timbro vocale del cantante: le sue grida pulite sanno molto di hardcore. Ricordo che il recensore aveva puntualizzato l'eccessiva monotonia di questi vocalizzi. In "T.P.A.S." la voce non stona, e fa il suo sporco lavoro, seppure lo stile sia abbastanza curioso. La traccia seguente, "Act Of Faith", è sfacciata e maleducata. Non si pensi però che il thrash degli Oppression sia rozzo, proprio a causa di questa attitudine "in your face". Le canzoni sono tutte ben arrangiate ed eseguite con precisione. Il songwriting mostra un'intelligenza acuta messa al servizio del thrash. Si tratta di brani pienamente godibili da tutti i più accaniti amanti del genere. Certo, si tratta di musica che ormai ha fatto il suo tempo. E' però un piacere riascoltare del buon vecchio thrash metal, e gli Oppression si rivolgono ad un pubblico che voglia ascoltare questo tipo di musica! "Merciless Deception" non fa eccezione, per la gioia di tutti gli headbanger! Begli assoli, e consueta attitudine hardcore della sezione vocale. Divertente. Dunque, la Nihilistic Holocaust ha dato alle stampe una buona cassetta-split. Nulla di innovativo, e nemmeno di curioso: thrash metal e basta. A me è piaciuta. SOUNDS OF ETERNAL WAR Webzine (Ger)

Gleich zwei Mal sehr geilen Thrash Metal bekommt man auf der neuesten Nihilistic Holocaust- Veröffentlichung zu hören. Hierbei handelt es sich EXTINCTION AGENDA aus den USA und den Schweden OPPRESSION. Letztere sind mir natürlich von der 3- Way Split "Bleeding The Fist" bekannt. EXTINCTION AGENDA kannte ich vor diesem Splittape noch nicht. Da die Amis den Start übernehmen will ich nun etwas näher den Sound von EXTINCTION AGENDA beschreiben. Liest man sich einmal die Bandgeschichte von EXTINCTION AGENDA auf der Bandhomepage durch, so stellt man fest das die Jungs einen sehr guten Geschmack haben was Old School Thrash Metal betrifft. Hier werden RAZOR, alte SLAYER, EXUDOS, KREATOR, VENOM, TANKARD und SABBATH (UK) in einem Zug genannt! Klar das diese Gruppen auch ihre Spuren in dem Sound von EXTINCTION AGENDA hinterlassen haben. Wie ich finde hört man RAZOR und KREATOR am ehesten aus den absolut tödlichen Thrash Nummern heraus. Aber das ist noch nicht alles. Zu dem Klang kommen auch ab und zu Death Metal- lastige Riffs hinzu.Das Ganze wirkt aber nie unpassend. Viel mehr haben es EXTINCTION AGENDA geschafft trotz ihren offensichtlichen Einflüssen einen eigenen Stil zu kreieren. Und dieser ist auf Vollgas ausgelegt. Die drei Songs "Inter Arma Silent Leges", "Trafficking Apathy" und "Creature Of Unconscious Design" knallen ohne Ende und haben ein verdammt geiles Old School Flair. Langweilig wird das Höre dieser drei Nackenbrecher, dank gekonnt eingesetzten Tempobreaks, auch nie.
Weiter geht es mit den Schweden OPPRESSION. Seit den Songs auf der "Bleeding The Fist" - Split hat sich glücklicherweise nicht viel getan. OPPRESSION sind ihrem Stil treu geblieben und holzen mit dem an DARK ANGEL, OVERKILL, Vio-lence und SADUS erinnernden 80er Thrash Metal alles in Grund und Boden. Auch der charismatische Gesangsstil wurde beibehalten. Die drei Songs "T.P.A.S.", "Act Of Faith" und "Merciless Deception" sind mit einer gehörigen Portion Aggression und Härte ausgestattet, so das das Zuhören richtig Spaß macht. Wegen des großen Abwechslungsreichtums kann man sich die Nackenbrecher auch gerne mehrmals anhören. Weiter so!
FAZIT: Wieder ein gelungenes Release von Nihilistic Holocaust, das sich vor allem Thrasher der alten Schule nicht entgehen lassen sollten. Das Splittape kommt in einem ordentlichen Sound daher und bietet zwei gute Underground Thrash Metal- Kapellen. Was will man mehr? Zum Schluss kann ich nur noch mit diesem passenden Spruch abschließen: "Both bands are old school influenced and don't give a flying fuck about the so-called "Thrash" Gothenburp gayness! Help them in their war against posership, and break your neck!"

Extinction Agenda is a great american old style thrash metal band. This demo release shows a band full of agression and great catchy songs without sounding sellout. This band is for sure a band for the future. Their musicianship is great and the songwriting is absolutly among the better thrash underground has to offer.

Oppression: This swedish thrash band shows us again how great a band they are. Their previous demo "left to perish" was great, but this release is even better. They have taken a giant step towards thrash metal heaven with this demo. Every selfrespecting thrash metal fan should have a copy of this release.

THREATS FROM THE UNDERGROUND Webzine (Usa)

EXTINCTION AGENDA takes the firat 3 songs on this split release. These guys hail from Mass. & play some really good Death / Thrash Metal music. The music is kind of raw sounding, but there is much intensity pouring out. The vocals are done in a Thrash / Death crossover style! The last 3 tracks come from Sweden's own OPPRESSION. These guys play ultra fast & spastic Thrash & Speed Metal mixed with Death Metal. The music is really fast paced & intense. The vocals are done in a more Metal version of M.O.D. Both of these bands are really good & this disc has gotten a lot of play already!!!

VOICES FROM THE DARKSIDE Webzine (Ger)

A split tape of two oldschool Thrash Metal bands – thumbs up!!! In general Gab from Nihilistic Holocaust releases quite a lot of items interesting to the readers of VOICES and this time this is no exception. EXTINCTION AGENDA provide the three tracks from their self titled demo tape from 2005 and this is definitely some REAL Thrash (with some slight Death Metal overtones here and there)! You won't find even the tiniest bit of Scandinavian influences which is a big plus in my book. Instead of dabbling with cheesy melodies and twin guitars this (by now) three piece celebrates raw North American thrashing music with its roots clearly in the mid to late eighties / early ninties… bands like maybe RAZOR or early SLAYER / EXODUS come to my mind when listening to the EXTINCTION AGENDA side. The band features two former members of DECEMBER WOLVES as I read on the homepage – this shows, if at all, only in the good musicianship but not on the music itself. I find the raw production to be more than appropriate for oldschool Thrash. Needless to say that anybody looking for “innovation” is wrong here… personally I prefer this over any band playing Swe / retro Thrash as the spirit is obviously there. Good one, this is definitely something for people into real Thrash from the underground. Go to their page for further impressions: www.exagenda.cjb.net. OPRESSION on the other side hail from Sweden and have an approach which is far more Bay-Area oriented for my ears – comparing OPPRESSION to DARK ANGEL and FORBIDDEN in terms of songwriting and riffing is not too far off the point I would say, VIO-LENCE could also be thrown in. The band took their three songs from their “To Protect And Serve” Demo '05. An energetic mixture and again the production and overall musicianship is cool! But, alas, the downside here are the vocals! Older semesters (hehe) might get accustomed to his way of clear Thrash-street-violence-vocals as they were quite commonly used in the eighties but for me they are too tame and somewhat powerless. From the news on OPPRESSION's homepage I gathered that they have deceided to search for a new singer and use the vocals presented here only as backing vocals in the future which is definitely what I would recommend as well. A very cool split tape with two quite promising real Thash Metal bands who obviously put their sweat, aggression, spirit and balls into their music! No gimmicks and no innovation to be found here – clearly music for Thrash Metal enthusiasts. Get this fucker for very cheap 3,50 Euros from the label and check out the homepages of the bands.
