AUTOEROTIC ASPHYXIATION Fanzine (Usa)

This split CD is compiled from Nerlich's 2004 demo Insane Creations - Inorganic Echoes, Decoherence's 2004 demo 10-43 and Gorgasm's 2002 demo. Track listings, web addresses and contact information is provided for all the bands that appear here. Nerlich hail from Finland and play old school death metal with thrashy overtones establishing comfortable, unforced connections with the blast beats, death metal riffage and guttural vocals, sprouting lasting catchiness. The Insane Creations - Inorganic Echoes demo is comprised of five cuts: "Degenerating Process," "Condemned," "Inorganic Subhuman Echoes," "Dissolve the Bodies" and "Flesh Deformation." Decoherence come from France; the three tracks encompassing their 10-43 demo, "The Cabalistic Show," "Ode to Joy" and "Synopsis Prosaic," build heavily on crunch, start-stop and double bass and exhibit faint glimmerings of hardcore. Also from France, Gorgasm (not to be confused with the American band of the same name) contribute the four tracks off their demo, "Pig's Bloated Face," "Hunt to the Weaks," "Rusted Nails Attack" and "Beware of Tramps" to this CD, and carry out a momentous job of associating low-tuned and intricate, classical-tinged progressions while staying brutal all the way through. "Beware of Tramps" has a section that suggests some metal-core influence. This is repeated in the fade out as the band hint they could continue to project their musical chaos for as long as they wanted

BESTIAL EXPERIENCE Webzine (Fra)

BLOOD DAWN Webzine (Ger)

Die französischen Death Metaller (was sonst?)
Mal sehen wann da was Richtiges, sprich: ein Album kommt. Ohren auf!

BLOOD OF THE ANCIENT Fanzine (Ger)

You`re able to experience five NERLICH, three DECOHERENCE and four GORGASM tunes of pure utter Death Metal, whilst presence meets the traditions of the past on this split album. The NERLICH tunes are taken from the `Insane Creations – Inorganic Echoes` demo from 2004 of this Finnish act, and I guess friends of i.e. old INCANTATION, IMMOLATION or ancient MORBID ANGEL may worship this. Despite being technically very skilled, NERLICH offer straight and aggressive as fuck sounds. The DECOHERENCE tunes were also taken from this French band`s 2004 demo, but the music offered is not as great and dark as what the Scandinavians used to offer before: But if you`re a worshipper of acts like i.e. CRYPTOPSY, SUFFOCATION, DEEDS OF FLESH or CANNIBAL CORPSE, this sound may appeal to you quite much. The final French GORGASM sound like a weird, technically overdosed mixture between ATHEIST, SUFFOCATION, CRYPTOPSY and CYNIC, which means that the musical skills presented here are over the top. But somehow I cannot figure out something that would take my heart by storm, GORGASM should concentrate on the song itself much more in future when creating music. Anyway, for Death Metal freaks and musicians this three-way-split-CD should definitely be a fine thing!

BRUTALISM Webzine (Hol)

This compilation is kicked off by Nerlich (Finland) playing brutal deathmetal in a early 90's U.S. style with tight and technical guitarriffs, pounding bass sound and up tempo and double bass drumparts. Sounds familiar but songs are just great and sound is tight and energetic.
Decoherence (France) plays more thrashing and aggressive blasting deathmetal with speedmetal guitarriffs changing tempo easily, melted with the dynamical drumming into a interesting piece of brutality. Vocals vary alot and quickly from screaming into grunting and deeper.
Last band on the disk is Gorgasm (also from France) playing technical melodical brutal deathmetal with dual guitarmelodies, heavy bassguitar sound with some nice loops and clinical sounding drums. Songstructures are quite crazy changing in tempo and atmosphere.
Great underground release with skullcrushing deathmetal in three different styles...

BURNING ABYSS Webzine (Pol)

Another amazing release on NIHILISTIC HOLOCAUST! I'm impressed again…
Finnish NERLICH begins the split. I've never heard of these guys before, and it's a pity as they execute great death metal that brings to my mind such killer albums as e.g. "Altars Of Madness" or "Testimony Of The Ancients" with some Cannibal Corpse touch.
DECOHERENCE is brutal death metal band hailing from France. Their technical skills and song-power are out of discussion, so you must check them out! It's a very good and underestimated band, in my opinion.
French GORGASM (now GOROD) closes the split. It's the most technical of those three bands, but their music didn't loose power. It's very in the US death metal vein (but who cares?) with some melodic or twisted parts. It kicks ass and that's the point, you must listen to their impressive full-lengths as well!
Brutal and killer split, recommended!

BURNING MISERY Webzine (Hol)

Nihilistic Holocaust Records has busted out a 3 Way Split featuring Nerlich, Decoherence, and Gorgasm (France). As soon as I saw the title I got impression that this disc was gonna contain some good old fashioned Goregrind. But that just was not the case, damn it… Oh yeah, in fairness to the bands I’m gonna review this stuff individually then average all the numbers in the end for a total. You mathematicians know what I mean.
First up is Nerlich, who come out of Finland. This band originally started in 2002 under the name Devastation Machine, then Disease before settling on Nerlich. After releasing a couple of demo’s they got onboard for the 2005 Embalmed Madness Split.
This band reminds me of a cross between Bolt Thrower and Entombed with some Pestilence thrown in for good measure. The music has an Old School sound with a churning guitar riff sound reminiscent of “The 4th Crusade” era Bolt Thrower. The bass sound is rolling rambunctious stuff that almost steals the show from the rest of the instruments. Hell, the fourth song “Dissolve the Bodies,” even has a cool bass solo that kicks in at 1:12. Overall this is a solid 5 song Doom/Death Metal effort that is a good for wetting your appetite prior to a night watching the fights.
From what I understand reading these guys website they just completed a full length debut consisting of 8 tracks. Hopefully they find a label will to put their music into the underground fold.

Decoherence: This is about the longest 3 song demo I have ever had to sit through, and I heard it twice just to make sure it was the music that was making me nauseous. If this is Brutal Death Metal then I’m a noble laureate for writing reviews on Metal. This is nothing more than a few deep vocal barfs mixed with an annoying hardcore shout similar to something a bit grungier than Hatebreed. The guitar is a pathetic mix of riffs that I heard much better played by Lust of Decay. And the rest of the music as a whole is better left un-described only for the fact that it is dull and uninspired. These guys seriously give the French Metal scene a bad name.

Gorgasm (France) : After getting through Decoherence this was my last hope for finding something worth listening to on this disc other than Nerlich. It seems I was destined to be grossly disappointed. Here is what these guys sound like: Take the riffs and technicality of Decapitated, Necrophagist, and some solo’s from Slayer, Metallica, and a couple of pussy Power Metal bands like Edguy and Dragonforce and meld them together. Then slow it all down and make it sloppy with a couple of wanna-be-tough brutal grunts for vocals and you got this slab of rubbish. If I was 10 years old I might find this music intimidating for about 5 seconds. Then I would take it out of my disc player and use it as a coaster. My rating for this band reflects their presumptuousness.

CARNAGE Webzine (Ger)

(lt)

CRYPT OF THE DR GORE Webzine (Fra)

CRYPTIC MADNESS Webzine (Fra)

Old-school, innovant, tout simplement Death and Roll...

Decoherence (France) : 3/5

It’s only Death and Roll and Fuck It all. Bravo !!! 4/5

ETERNAL TERROR Webzine (Nor)

FOEDUS AETERNUS Fanzine (Fra)

GUTS OF DARKNESS Webzine (Fra)

IN EXTREMIS Fanzine (Fra)

KLASMA Fanzine (Ger)

This split release unites the finns of NERLICH with the frenchmen DECOHERENCE and GORGASM at the deathmetallic battlefield. The five tracks of NERLICH are the material of the demo „Insane creations - Inorganic echoes" from the last year. The finns ride a hell with full throttle. The biggest parts are blast attacks, interrupted by midpaced passages. Concerning the technique nobody can piss on NERLICH, and the songwriting is varied. Just the permanently hammering bass guitar in the foreground sucks. Some solo fillings cause more effect. So after all it sounds quite good, and it’s crushing some skulls. But soon it appears that we’ve heard the whole thing more than often. The same distress striked to DECOHERENCE. The three songs (from the „10-43"-Demo 2004) bash forward quite hard, but that’s all. At times I got the feeling, that the guys fish at the Hardcore shore too. And the vocals really take some times to get accustom to it. For GORGASM actually one word could be enough: „Crazy". The four-tracks-demo is about three years old. But it’s fresher than the stuff of the split-partners. Though these tricky harmonies and the frog noise tending voice is not my „cup of tea", the way the guys force their stuff out of the speakers causes respect. Incalculable like a hurricane GORGASM sweep the scum off the way with cool melodies. Now and the n it sounds like they’re jamming. And nobody knows what will bring the next tacts. For freaks tending to tricky material a (hidden) tip! And if I got it right, GORGASM are now called GOROD (or something like this), to avoid confusions with the US guys. So watch out!

KRONIKS Webzine (Fra)

Only pink is real ! All Hailz the slip !

A quand "Embalmed madness 2" ?

LORDS OF METAL Webzine (Hol)

The French label Nihilistic Holocaust releases a lot of split CDr-s with underground death metal, selling them at cheap prices. A good way of getting to know new underground bands and for the bands to spread their demo recordings. "Embalmed Madness #1" contains three demos from Nerlich, Decoherence and Gorgasm.

The first band on this split CDr is Nerlich from Espoo, Finland, who present their "Insane Creations – Inorganic Echoes" demo, which they recorded last year. This, their second offering, contains three old songs from their first demo and two new tracks. Nerlich plays old school death metal in vein of Suffocation and Death. The sound of the recordings is pretty underground, but still the compositions contain plenty of good riffs to keep it interesting, even with such a raw and unpolished sound. Nerlich have certainly aroused my interest with these five tracks and it's a good idea to keep an eye open for this band, because they may be capable of much greater things. Both their demo's can also be downloaded from their website for free www.nerlich.tk

The second band presented on "Embalmed Madness #1" is Decoherence from France. Three songs which were recorded in March 2004. The sound of this recording is pretty weak. And even though the band knows how to play fast and brutal I can't seem to get into their music. Even after playing these three songs multiple times these tracks are boring. Decoherence should maybe consider writing real songs instead of just making "organized" noise.

Last but not least the French technical death metal band Gorgasm is represented with four tracks of their 2002 demo. This band is not to be confused with the Chicago death metal blasters Gorgasm. In fact, these French have just recently signed with Willowtip Records (Necrophagist, Neuraxis and Cephalic Carnage a.o.) and changed their name into Gorod, in order not to create to much confusion. Their first album which was originally released on the Dead Sun label, will be re-released by Willowtip Records and also, the next two albums will appear on this label. The music of Gorgasm / Gorod is best to be described as, to quote Gorgasm / Gorod themselves: "A mix of the syncopated fronts of Coroner, the speed of Sadus, the original bass of Death and the efficiency of Carcass", which basically sums up the essence of this band. Gorgasm is a technically skilled band that also knows how to write interesting songs. They sure play some freaky stuff. Unfortunately I don't own their debut album "Neurotripsicks" but this demo tells me I should be on the lookout for this release.

LORDS OF WINTER Webzine (Fra)

(Wardjinn - 14/04/2006). 7/10

MACABRE PEST Zine (Chile)

Nerlich (Fin) plays Death metal (Morbid Angel). They never replied our questions. Do we have to support´em? I don´t think so!

Decoherence (Fra) and its Demo ´04 “10-43” (Ed: ?? what a hell…?) with 3 trax (The cabalistic show/Ode to joy/ Sinopsis prosaic)  playing and fast and effective Death Metal, very well-structured and a drums sound very gore like you know, but no so uncontrolled.

And finally, Gorgasm (Fra) with their Demo ´02 (Pig´s bloated face/ Hunt to the weaks /Rusted nails attack/ Beware of tramps) I´d call this Death Gore Metal, with a vocalist ultra guttural and deep as fuck very saturated argh… like we chilean say “voz de califont a toda zorra!!!”. Riffs and the rest are ok but some riffs are kinda weird, not my taste at all (specially in Pig´s.. maybe i´m not get use to, but who cares ) With a drummer playing fast and brutal, but some parts are slow or technique? they should play faster as fuck!!! Arghhhh. I almost forgot i don´t like their shitty logo, it´s so soddin´ugly. It´s like they were a hip-hop group. Do it over!

METAL DISTRICT Webzine (Germany)

METAL RULEZ Webzine (Pol)

Chłopaki z kraju reniferów i przebranego w czerwone łaszki brodziatego grubasa prezentują nam pięć niezwykle udanych, death metalowych ochłapów. Brutalny i techniczny stuff ubrany w smolisto-mięsiste brzmienie wychodzi im nadzwyczaj udanie.

METAL VOX Webzine (Bra)

Note : 9/10

MUSKETEER OF DEATH Webzine (Hol)

This split CD starts off with the technical skills of Finnish Nerlich. Brutal technical death metal in the old fashioned way. The rich bass, great virulent guitar work, blasting drums and foul grunts are in excellent form in the thorough compositions. The sound is solid and ponderous and is a pleasure for the ear. But watch out for your neck muscles, because before you know your banging your head off on the delicious riffs and solos. A pleasant first acquaintance, looking forward to future releases. For the record, all 5 songs are taken from their 2004 demo "Insane creations – inorganic echoes".
The next 3 paroxysms of US death metal come from the French Decoherence. The sound is "right in the face" and very full. Filthy guttural grunts, skilful guitar violence, a deliciously spree of drum blast and a brutal bass sputter all around. Although these French don’t bring any new under the sun, it goes like a bomb. Also these 3 songs were already released before, knowing on their 2004 demo "10-43".
Last, and definitely not least are the French techno-death metallers of Gorgasm. The 4 splendid examples of technical Death Metal are taken from their untitled demo released in 2002. High-quality progressive technical death metal with a flow of crushing drums and powerful guitars with a variety of full riffing and finger licking leads and solos. The bass is catchy, obstinate and sometimes even freaky. The grunts are raw and brutal. It’s all brutal, still very catchy and easy in the ear. These talented guys are musically as well vocally playing on a very high level. This really is food for fans of bands as Cynic, Atheist, Necrophagist and Death. Definitely not the least, but these French really deserve a comparison to these great bands. The desert of this 3-split metal meal!

MY LAST CHAPTER Webzine (Swe)

Demos of three great death metal bands re-issued on a single cd-r. Now this is great stuff!
Finland’s pride and joy Nerlich starts off with their really cool mix of thrashy old school and modern death metal. Really cool vocals, powerful drumming, a fucking great bass sound and ripping riffs. Most of the time it doesn’t go really fast, but this just shows that you can create really brutal music without trying to achieve the ultimate speed. However there are some moments of grinding too. Heavy, brutal and energetic music, some great shit!
Do you want grinding death metal? Well, you’ve got it! French Decoherence serves you three tracks of raging death metal with a hardcore touch. Fans of Misery Index will love this. Fast and great drumming, great vocals, great riffs… There’s nothing else to say. And to be honest I can’t really think of anything else to say either. Just buy!
And now we have the gory frenchies Gorgasm taking over. To be honest, I definitely prefer their Masticate To Dominate album from 2003, but it’s cool to hear the demo from 2002. Very gory vocals, and I suspect lyrics too considering the song titles. A lot of guitar, the guitars definitely take up space. Anyway, fuck it! Brutal, grinding and gory death fucking metal! 8/10

NECROLOGIUM Webzine (Swe)

This split CDR have three bands to offer. The first, Finnish Nerlich, is the one I found most appealing. Imagine a mix between old school Finnish/Swedish death metal in the Demigod or Grave vein and lace it with some early Gorguts and you'll have a rough idea of their style. Second act, French Decoherence, didn't leave much of an impression on me other than that it's pretty dull death metal. Third act, French Gorgasm, I don't know what to make of. They mix good and brutal death metal with both melodic and proggressive stuff. Plus that their vocals is not that great. All in all a decent split, but this is much due to Nerlich as the French acts is not that interesting. Unless you like schizophrenic, technical death metal, because then you will love Gorgasm.

NECROSLAUGHTER Webzine (Ger)

NO BULLSHIT Webzine (Philippines)

During the first violent minutes of lead track Degenerating Process; this writer asked himself: "Where have I heard that guitar sound before?" Then the old 3 pound grey matter did its job and I suddenly figured it out. For the duration of Nerlich's (Finland) four contributions, all taken from their 2004 demo Insane Creations - Inorganic Echoes, the listener is bombarded with what seem to be a well prepared thesis on how to pray at Trey Azagtoth's Altars Of Madness. Nerlich obviously make no effort to hide their main influence (Close inspection of the accompanying band picture reveal at least two members sporting Morbid Angel shirts.) Aside from the aforesaid guitar sound, the vintage Morbid Angel influence can also be spotted on the drumming and the vocals. You could almost swear it’s a young David Vincent spewing out those blasphemous snarls. Nerlich's vocalist even uses the same phrasing that Vincent used almost 20 years past (Imagine a pounding thrash metal gallop. Now place a syllable on every other snare hit.) The boys from Finland wisely spice up their material with a lot of muscular Suffocation type grooves, but alas, the roots are firmly buried in the late 80s to early 90s Florida swamps. Fans of said styles are advised to check out Nerlich.

For heads who are seeking a more modern approach, you'll have a better chance by checking out the three tracks by Decoherence (France) from the oddly titled 10-43 demo 2004, whose jagged rhythms and cacophonous riffs are more akin to the relentless approach by the likes of Hate Eternal (see a pattern here?) and Severed Savior. Yeah I know, tons of bands do the blast till ya die thing these days, but Decoherence are clever enough to offset the speed by injecting catchy head bang-able mid-paced breaks ala Vile or early Deeds Of Flesh. It actually sounds better than some of those comparisons might lead you to think. These guys are tight. Tighter than Andre the Giant’s bear hug actually. I'm listening through headphones and they keep falling off because of all the crazy head banging and appliance moshing the music is making me do. Definitely my favored contributions in this here split.

Last four tracks in this collection come from Gorgasm’s Demo 2002. No, it’s not the American band. This Gorgasm is also from France and sound more like a combination of Cynic and Burning Inside rather than the in-your-face brutality of their U.S. based namesake. Although not really lacking in the brutality department, the band prefers to approach their death metal with precision technicality and eccentric arrangements. The guitars and bass are interwoven in such labyrinth complexity that I either find myself shaking my head in bewilderment or scratching it in total awe. Problem is; I’m not too hot on the overall mix that this French Gorgasm acquired. The guitars aren’t loud enough and the bass has too much “boom” to it. A more fluid tone ala Steve Di Giorgio would have lifted the guitars and at the same time achieved better definition of the bass licks. But hey, I guess that’s why they call it a demo. Fans of Illogicist and Death, heads up! - Brian

NOISE VISUAL PUTREFACTION Zine (Fra)

PASSION ROCK Zine (Fra)

RESISTENCIA UNDERGROUND Webzine (Fra)

SEWER Fanzine (Gre)

The Finnish band NERLICH is an old school death metal band. They balance between the old Swedish Death Metal Scene (re-spect!!!)and DEICIDE/MORBID ANGEL.In this split they contributed their “Insane Cre-ations-Inorganic Echoes ”demo ’04 which is a very good sounding demo and a very good reason for someone to get down to them. DECOHERENCE sound a bit worse concerning the production.Still the French have the nerve to capture my attention very well. They gave for this split their “10-43 ”demo ’04 which is a mixture of DYING FETUS with old school death metal. Cool demo with interesting riffs.GORGASM from France has nothing to do with the band with the same name from USA. Yet,their music in their demo ‘02 is similar to the Americans.Brutal death metal with pig growls and muzzling low ones, heavy riff basis and groovy parts that will spring you from the ground. However, they have many classic death metal elements in the songs ’ structure.Limited edition pro covered cdr.Recommended split for sure!

SHRUNKEN AND MUMMIFIED Zine (Hun)

Gab from Nihilistic Holocaust is an enthusiastic old-school fan when it comes to Death Metal. In general he puts out tapes and CD-Rs with xeroxed covers, this time we can welcome his most professional release up to date. This 3-way split is a CD-R again, but it has a pro-printed cover that includes all the necessary info on the bands, even their pictures and logos. The starting group is Nerlich from Finland. Needless to say this is the first time I have heard about them (hey, bro, where the hell do you get these bands from?), and these songs were taken from their demo 2004. Listening to them it was the first Immolation album that came to my mind mixed with a bit of early Morbid Angel, still resulting not a copy band, but definitely not the most original one in the scene. What makes them stand out may be the great, technical bass-playing – the guy doesn’t dare to use also the higher tones so as to give some plus to the anyway not out-of-the-ordinary songs. After 5 of these they gave the place for Decoherence, a brutal Death Metal band from France. Fast and cruel performance, though the vocals are not always guttural as it would fit to it, but sometimes are just screamings of the type that characterizes that so-hated modern, extreme metal. I was reminded of Australian Psycroptic at most places, though these Frenchmen cannot reach the geniuty of those acknowledged Aussie bastards, even f they are fast and precise enough. Maybe it is not fair to have only 3 songs from them as they aren’t that bad at all, but I think it is enough to want their other stuffs (if they have any, of corpse). Last but not least here comes another French combo, with the utterly original name Gorgasm (I don’t know exactly how many bands exist with this monicker in the present scene, but surely they aren’t the only one). They are the most technical of the three, but it doesn’t go to the detriment of brutality. The low growls are there, so are the fast parts, even if they are entwined by thousands of tempo-changes or even Nasty Savage-like high-toned guitar-riffing and excellent Murphious solos. In the four songs prenested here they muster up as many themes as other bands haven’t got even in a full-length album. I was pleased by this band, and if it weren’t for the obtuse drum-sound, I would evaluate this production as perfect. All in all, I will remember this name as the No. 1 when it comes to Gorgarms. They are a worthy end of this worthy release, so don’t hesitate any more…

SOUNDS OF ETERNAL WAR Webzine (Germany)

Typisch amerikanisch bolzt der Opener "The Cabalistic Show" in bester CANNIBAL CORPSE- Manier los.
Total Killer Death Metal Massacre!

SUPREME BRUTALITY Webzine (Denmark)

This yet another split CD release from Nihilistic Holocaust. Finish technical death metallers Nerlich are the first band on this release. The music is death metal with occasionally some odd, but never the less pretty cool arrangements. The songs are taken from their Insane Creations - Inorganic Creations demo from 2004. The songs are pretty good, but without ever becoming really interesting. French death metallers Decoherence are next. The band seem really to like US death metallers Malevolent Creation quite a bit, however, I don't find this negative. The music is pretty good and for the most straightforward death metal. It doesn't really hold any surprises, but who really cares. It doesn't make the music any less good. The songs featured here is taken from their 10-43 2004 demo.
Last but not least is Gorgasm and no it's not the brutal US death metallers, but instead the French death metallers with the same name. The music is technical and somewhat experimental death metal and it's actually pretty good. The songs were taken from their 2002 demo. Common for all 3 bands is that they all have a pretty good sound and production despite the fact that all the songs are taken from various demos. This release is by far the best from Nihilistic Holocaust. This is definitely worth a check if you're looking for some total underground material.  4/6

THE MANIAC POSTMAN Zine (Spa)

Other excellent splitCD from the factory Nihilistic Holocaust Rec. The certain thing is that they have good taste when choosing the bands! NERLICH opens CD with a heavy, brutal and technical death metal. Their style this quite up-to-date one but I sometimes find influences of DEATH in the time of "Leprozy"/ "Spiritual healing" or even the first works of SEPULTURA. Also they make some reeally chaotic tracts in their songs, but without a doubt the band has a very high quality! DECOHERENCE makes Death metal with enough Hard Core elements, a very similar material to bands like MISERY INDEX to name some influences. In my opinion they are the band with more jewel from the SplitCD and without doubting it, the best! These GORGASM is not the Americans, they are French and their Death metal is original and twister althought not very difficult of disgesting, with good ideas, excellent details of instrumental technique and a really destructive vocalist. A very advisable band.

THE NOCTURNAL BATTLE OF CHARIOTS Webzine (Pol)

Dodatkowo wprawiony słuchacz wychwyci też wpływy Death, sprytnie ukryte pod warstwą brutalizmów - "Hunt To The Weaks".

THE OTHER SIDE Webzine (Bulgaria)

THREATS FROM THE UNDERGROUND Webzine (Usa)

This is a 3 way split release from NERLICH, DECOHERENCE & GORGASM. The first 5 songs are by NERLICH. They are from Finland & play a very intense style of Death Metal music with some Thrash elements tossed in. The next 3 songs are by France's DECOHERENCE. These guys play hyper fast Death Metal with Grindcore influences mixed in. The last 4 tracks come from GORGASM out of France. These guys play a very heavy & aggressive style of Grind Gore with Death all through out. This is a great split release that Death fans should get!!!

VAMPIR Fanzine (Macedonia)

Gab, the founder of this DIY label always put great releases out. This one is a 3 way split CDr with pro-printed color layout, with all the necesary info and photos about the bands. The first band is Nerlich from Finland. The songs used ofr their part are taken from their demo 'Insane Creations-Inorganic echoes'. What can I say, their production is great for a demo and when it comes to the style it's some kind f Morbid Angel mix with their own ideas. The song 'Condemned' carries some old school thrasy riffs a la Reign in Blood -era,that gives good variation of their music. The brutality continues with the French extremists Decoherence. Their 3 songs are taken from their demo '10-43'. Unlike Nerlich, these guys are oriented more into American brutal death metal. So, fast and extreme melting machinery you should expect here. They also use some groove passages. The last band also comes from France and they're Gorgasm. These dudessplit the band in the past and formed it again.I've read this stuff on some web site while I was trying to find the web of US Gorgasm. So,I have one of their albums called 'Neurotripsicks' and I knew what to expect, eventhough the tracks are dated in 2002. These guys are into fast riffing with lots of tempo changes. Some sort of a unique element in their music is the lead guitar passages that are creating very unusual sound for brutal death metal band.Personaly I didn't like those elements, but It shouldn't stop you to check them out. It's available through my adress, also (MKD-120 den)

VOICES FROM THE DARKSIDE  Webzine (Ger)

This three-way CD-R sampler was most probably made for a concert of three bands featured here – and it must have been a great show according to the material featured. The first are NERLICH from Finland with the tracks of their “Insane Creations – Inorganic Echoes” demo. 'Degeneration Process', the opener, instantly conjured up images of earlier MORBID AMGEL and MONSTROSITY, 'Lord Of All Fevers And Plagues' and the second album respectively. Crowned by an evil breathy midrange vocal delivery, NERLICH controlledly build their riffing around well thought structures with intelligent breaks and tempo changes. The soloing blends in great, adding up to the morbid picture. With running playtime the material shows a stronger Thrash influence (PESTILENCE comes to mind), somehow I have the impression as if the last three songs might be older tracks. Some moments remind me of DEATH, the slower harmony parts especially, traces of OBITUARY are also present. These Finns were previously unknown to me and I am more than glad to review this as some great dark and twisted Death Metal with a powerful thrashing edge is offered here – keyword oldschool! According to their website NERLICH have already recorded an album (with an altered line up) and are now looking for a label to release. Go to their website www.nerlich.tk to learn more. Round two: DECOHERENCE! Now this band hailing from France takes a more contemporary approach. Doublebass ridden brutal Death Metal with rhythmic heavy parts getting chased by blast passages and a good dose of breaks. The vocals range from deep growls and a few guttural notes to aggressive shouts, not unlike some brutal Thrash shouter… and also the groove and a good part of the riffing has a feeling of, lets say, earlier MALEVOLENT CREATION to it. The overall mixture is a good deal more technical at parts, though. Personally, I find this material absolutely convincing and its too bad there are only three tracks here! www.decoherence-music.com. The French GORGASM (now renamed to GOROD) are the third and last band on this sampler. Oldschool Death Metal of a technical kind with a fair deal of melodic fretwork of both guitars and bass is the game here. As well as NERLICH, GORGASM take inspiraton from the early nineties yet focus on the technical aspects; older NOCTURNUS (without keyboards!) and CORONER may serve as vague orientation for the riffing. The musicianship is absolutely without fail here and some scale runs even are comparable to some NECROPHAGIST stuff. My only point of criticism applies for the vocals: the attempts at inhaling, pig squeals and guttural frognoise vocals sound inconvincing to my ears but as these tracks are already from 2002 this may have been improved by now. I am interested to see how their debut album which will be re-released by Willowtip Records turns out. http://gorgasm.free.fr/. So, EMBALMED MADNESS #1 offers the demos of three bands covering different grounds in Death Metal - and they do it bloody well! I would say this release is a great piece of music for every worshipper of underground Death Metal, so get it! To me, the sound quality is more than decent for demo recordings and the material speaks for itself convincingly (is it just me or are people bitching about “bad sound” much more today for no apparent reasons? Anyway…). Be sure to check out the homepage of Nihilistic Holocaust as well!

 VOMIT THE SOUL Fanzine (Fra)

The first part of this SplitCDR is NERLICH. The 5 tracks of this band come from their Demo04 entitled “Insane Creations – Inorganic Echoes”. Musically, NERLICH is into a basic Death Metal with a very important Old School feeling and some Thrash touches. Nothing really innovative indeed, but I had a good time listening to these 5 tracks!! 2nd band is DECOHERENCE and the 3 tracks taken from their “10-43” Demo04. Musically, it’s more into Brutal Death Metal, sometimes sounding like MALEVOLENT CREATION. Very good demo with a good sound and powerful tracks!! Last band is GORGASM and the 4 tracks of their Demo02. This demo is getting a bit old now, but I think it’s a good thing anyway to re-release it, because GORGASM really deserve support!! Brutal Technical Death Metal! This is what GORGASM is about!! So much technical that some tracks almost sound experimental!! Excellent band who’s now named GOROD, regarding US GORGASM. At last even if this SplitCD-R proposes only already released demos, the chosen bands are rather good, with a good production, and there’s no reason to avoid this stuff if you don’t get the original demos! Good stuff (with a pro cover)!!

WILD METAL Blogzine (Fra)

A écouter attentivement...
Note : 9/10
